Ok the HVX has arrived in dubai. I called up the guy that let me test the panny at the recent showing.

He told me it cost about 19,500dhs est $5300 seems a bit steep to me.

A 4gb P2 will cost me, 3000dhs est $816

I am going to go down tomorrow, and try negotiate.

How much would you guys pay for the PAL version, and il put it on the table in the meeting.

If its good, il be walking out tomorrow with a camera. Lets hear some prices. What did you pay.

Ok got a call from panny. They say that tomorrow i can have this camera, Pal with 2 4gb cards for 5,500 dollars.

Shuld I jump at the chance, or try get more off?

Is there a reason for this discount? perhaps you have seen similar price drops in other places.

The guy said the other day that they have 8gb P2 cards comming in and they would replace all double 4gb cards with single 8gb cards free of charge. Mabe he is just trying to get rid of the 4gbs to anyone that doesnt want the 8gb. I think 2 4gb cards would be better dont u think?

shuld i go forward with this deal, or can you get it cheaper still.

im confused with the formats you can record at the moment as far as it translates to gigs.

you have any ideas?
 
Oh, 2 8gigs looks a lot sweater now. But 2 4 gigs wont hurt i dont think. Il bring a hardrive allong with me to plug in. Would be a nice treat to find me a Firestore. lets see 100gb, 720, hmmm 200minutes? oooh

Oh for 2 nights its been like christmas eve. Did anyone else suffer sleeping problams waiting for the dealer to call and say the camera is ready the next day. Today i thought it was the day, the guy told me he has wrote up the paperwork but due to some warehouse thing they couldnt get the camera to his office.

I hope its tomorrow. I went for a little interview for an internship, hehe the thing was it was for my sound engineer friend. I slipped it out ;) that i was looking for fillming gigs etc, and said the camera i was getting.

So thursday im shooting a promotional vid for the sound studio, think its pro bono but they mentioned future work. Damn this camera is not just a foot in the door, its like charging a bull through the executive frosted glass doors.

I wouldnt be getting this cam if it wasnt for the support thats behind it. Im not talking about the customer support at panny, talkin bout you guys. No one could ask for a better backbone. Was going for the DVX before reading the HVX section and watching the clips.

Keep it up guys, apreciate it, hopefully when i get the cam and have some practice il be of some use on the forum. I hope my noob questions help other people to scared to ask. Oh and il post some footage of Dubai etc and home country scotland hopefully sometime this year.
