P2 Importer and FCP show images differently!

Hi,
My p2 footage in FCP's viewer/timeline looks darker than it does in the p2 import window, like the gamma setting is different. The p2 window shows basically the same gamma setting that quicktime does after I export a movie and watch it in quicktime (if I open it in FCP it is darker). I looked in my preferences and the edit tab has the gamma set to source. That's all I could think of. Please help. This is frustrating because it is hard to edit when the final output looks different from my FCP viewer. But I also want all of my setting set right so other people have the best chance of seeing what I intend.

The only accurate representation of the video image is via an external monitor, properly calibrated.

I know, but it is still a concern that my p2 importer and QT windows have very different representations than my FCP windows. I should be able to get these to match on the same monitor, no?
