Which monitor work best with Matrox MXO?

I'm planning to purchase a Matrox MXO for editing my HVX 1080 footage. Is it really necessary to buy the 23" Apple Cinema Display or other manufacturer (Dell) already does the job for HD?

I wish to get the one Panasonic but the budget is just enough for the config above...lol
any other suggestion?
 
the MXO was originally designed to be used specifically with the apple. but im told the recent versions have dell support.

Where do you find support for this statement?

I used the Matrox MXO with any DVI monitor, and with external LCD and Plasmas as well.

well, if you just want to be confrontational... ; )

ok. i never said it wouldnt "work" but all the early reports ive heard - some direct from matrox - said that the mxo was initially designed and configured with the apple in mind. i forget the technical reasons why, but i think it was something about being set up for the gamma of the apple. whether that was a hardwired or software situation i dont know. but i have heard from the same sources that newer versions were supposed to directly support the dell.

its a situation of "for best results" not one of "only this will work"
 
and keep in mind that the current shipping dell 24" (2407) is not on that list - i would call before i bought...
 
I have used it with Apple Cinema Display and with Dell 2405. I have not heard of any issues with any DVI monitor that supports the appropriate resolution.

Has anyone tried the the new, higher color gamut Dell 2407 HC with the Matrox MXO? On his blog, Shane Ross indicated that he was able to get closer to matching a broadcast monitor using the MXO with a 23" ACD, rather than a Dell 2405, the older 24" Dell that does not have the wider color gamut. I am wondering if this is still true with the newer Dell, which is still $200 cheaper than the ACD. I have an MXO on order and am trying to decide between the Apple 23" display and the Dell 2407 HC. If the ACD is still superior, I guess I will have to put my iPhone credit toward getting one of those.

Matrox is terrific. Other options-- Decklink Intensity. Nice card. HDMI output and component/composite in the Intensity Pro version. Limited ability to calibrate and viewing on HDTV. Capture card to SDI monitor-- best option. Most expensive option. To me, MXO is the most accurate and flexible mode of output for the money.
