Doesn't focus - they Keep saying its software!!

Hi Everyone! I purchased a DVX100a factory new for $1000 Aus - which is less then 1/3 of a price.

The catch was that the camera had a focus issue - basically you can only focus in 5mm zoom which is nearly on full wide. Anymore telephoto or anymore wider the zoom and you can't focus no matter how much you turn the focus ring. Also there is a slight flickering.

I sent it to a service center for 5 weeks they had it and told me that its a software issue - something not calibrated correctly. But they can't get the software easily since this is a professional model and they are a consumer repairer. They aren't even getting back to me now.

Could it be a physical lens issue? Maybe a piece within the lens came from the factory defective? I didn't know that software problems could cause such behaviours.

What could be the problem?

When I say that its 'flickering' I meant that some parts of the screen wobbles when the zoom is pushed past the 5mm zoom. If stops wobbling again though at around 7mm, but you still can't focus, everything is blurry.

A Panasonic authorized repair facility should have what is necesary to perform a "software alignment" on your camera. Pana Australia should be able to point you to an authorized service center.
Hope this helps.
