hi all,

tomorrow is the day! im going to put my canon xm2 away and getting my new baby: the hvx200. i ordered the following accessories:

firestore fs-100
external firestore charger
additional firestore battery
bebob box-fs
bebob zoe dvxl
4 Gig P2 Card (for Slowmo shots)
2 additional batteries for the hvx

i already got a sachtler dv2 tripod from my old cam

i usual used my former cam for my network. im a journalist working for one national tv network, but i was always interested in cinematography... so i started to film by myself 4 years ago. 2 years ago i started freelancing beside my regualr job... i usualy rented the equipment, but now its time to get my own, so thats why tomorrow is the day :)

usual i make industrial film, or image clips. no cinematique stuff (but thats what i would like to do in the future)

so, any advices on needful accessoirs? next month i have to shot with a tyler mount from a heli.

thanx for your help

A few filters are a great. relatively cheap way to jump from industrial to cinematic. Basics would be a grad ND, a Circ Polarizer, and something from tiffen to enhance skin.

I've been using the Cokin Z-series and I'm pretty happy with it. Or you can go with standard 4x4 filters.

If you keep with the cinematic angle it might pay to invest in a 35mm adapter.

you might want to consider a matte box and follow focus system with rod supports also your dv2 i believe is rated at 6.5lbs with the hvx and firestore your weight is already exceeding the heads capabilities oh!! don't forget the external monitor another must have accessory

a zacuto shoulder mount/rails system would ROCK, if you have a couple grand laying around...

or on the cheap side but VERY handy search ebay for "steadicam" and you'll find the CB-105. its a really simple shoulder mount that provides a down and dirty, guerilla way to shoulder carry the HVX. its about $100 and worth every penny. - get the $10 extra weight, you'll need it for the HVX

hey thanks for all the advice,

it worked well. was my first heli shooting. footage was great and the customer was satisfied. even with my small hvx, but the crew had special adapters for the tylormount.
