Hey, ive got a P2 Card mounted and want to write to it, but im only allowed to read, even though its a FAT 32 volume. The card is not locked, and it is not allowing me to change ownership or permissions. Anyone able to write back to their P2 card?

Thanks alot!

Okay, updated: this is NOW POSSIBLE, if you use P2CMS. Select your clips and then choose the "Export" command, and then navigate the destination to be your P2 card. P2CMS will copy the footage back out to the card.

You can't do it through finder, but you CAN do it through P2CMS. You still can't rename a volume or format a card on a Mac, but at least now the option of copying footage back to cards exists.

Huh?

Huh?

Hi all:

I am not understanding this thread, I have always been able to re-load P2 media from a hard drive or laptop back to P2 cards using the Mac laptop. The secret is to copy and past the media, dragging and dropping it will not work. But copying and pasting has always worked well for me, I used to do it quite often to make DV outputs from large amounts of cards when we used to not have enough cards to use. I would have to re-load dozens of cards so I could use the HVX to make the DV downconverts when we only had non HD compatible AVIDs.

Yes, I was able to do this too. Not individual clips, but the whole contents + last clip folders.

You can do this through the FINDER after an export from P2CMS.

Check out my post in General Discussions.

I am trying this using my HVX200 connected as a 1394 device. The cards are NOT set to "protect" but P2CMS still reports, "Writing to target is protected. No privilege or read only."

I believe the problem is with the Mac. There's an application out there for the Mac that lets you write to any format of storage media. I'll check on it when I get home and report later.

Hey I hooked up the HVX to my MacBook Pro through USB2 and switched in the HVX menu from "1394 device" to "USB2 device" and then my footage copied back onto my P2 card like a champ. I used P2CMS by the way, but finder drag and drop might have worked as well. Haven't tried that yet. But seeing that this original question was asked back in 2007, I am hoping you already got this to work by now.
