Get Barry's Book

I don't have time to write a full reply. I think that those settings are explained in the users manual. But I can tell you from experience That Barry's DVX book is an absolute necessity.

Check it out.

Just a quick reply.

24p is 24 p applied to 30i. You can capture and edit it in native 30i timeline and it easily mixes with 30i footage. 24pa is best for editing native 24p or 23.97. 24p A maintains the native 24p without pull down.

Thats my understanding. But I have keep berry's book in my camera case so I don't have to remember all this stuff all the time.

Best of luck

What are differences b/w scene, scene flou, scene spark, scene B star, 24p, 24pa?
Please mention main features of each setting.

Thank you!

hey bro....the first four settings are default to 30p. 30p is more smooth, and it is used for television, and the news (also television). although scene file f1,f2,f3, and f4 are 30p, they each have their setting for different shooting locations. scene file f3 (spark) could be used for weddings, so you can get that sharpness. I think it is used for news and broadcast to.

Although scene files f1 to f4 are all 30p, you can also make them 24p.

Now for the last scene file settings 24p and 24pA

Ever watch a tv show? and then a movie? you can notice more "smoothness" in the tv show, and more "flickering" in movies. Well, not so much flickering, but not as smooth at tv. Go ahead and hook your dvx up to the tv in scene files f1 to f4 (30p) and move the camera around. Youll notice very smooth motion. While moving it, switch the setting to 24p or 24pA, you will notice a BIG change. HUGE!!

now when i shoot 24p, and look on a computer monitor, i dont notice a lot between 30p and 24p. But if you look on the TV, you will DEFINATLY notice it. If you are working on 24p for a while and then switch to 30p, or visa versa, the change will be emaculate.

i liek to shoot 24pA cause i dont get interlaced line (the lines you see in movement)

although you don't see this on TV

i like making short films, and maybe working my way up to a feature length (i am actually in the process)

so i use 24pA (looks nice on big screen then 24p)

if you are into interviews, shoot 30p , OR 24p, depends on what you like better.

Hook yuor camera up to your tv and look at the differneces, and play with the settings

The first four scene files are set at default to 60i, not 30p.

24pA has interlacing unless you remove the pulldown, and the stutter is actually worse than 24p if you try to watch it straight from the tape or without pulldown removed.

The visual difference between 24p and 24pA, once pulldown is removed, is 99.99% non-existent.

wuts the diff between 60i and 30p? quiality? movement?

i = interlaced, p = prorgressive scan. 60i = 60 Interlaced Frames Per Second... and 30P = 30 Progressive Scans (Full Images) Per Second... and then theirs 24 Frames per second... oooh...la laahhh...
