Another Heinz Entry - In Your Face!

I tell ya, it sometimes a throw away line that can make it. The "we don't know" line by the guy really keeps the humorous momentum up of the piece. I really like this commercial a lot.

Funny commercial, but how in the heck have you guys had SO many views already? Do you have a HUGE list of people you all have emailed on this?

Norm,

Not really a big list. Just told our friends and family. I thinks its pretty funny and its catchy. I guess we are just fortunate.

Please send us a vote if you get a chance. We'll keep you guys posted to see if we get into the top 15.

Thank you so much for your support. :)

Well, I rated your video high, and added it to my favorites (www.youtube.com/normsanders), but can't say that I'll be voting for it unfortunately ... because I'm in the competition as well.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if you DO make the top 15! It's very well done. I'd also wager to say your friends & family have done a solid job of forwarding it on. You've got a solid network, which is great.

well Norm,

why don't you PM me your entry so that I may rate it and add and comment as well. I find that the entries from DVXusers are the stronges ones. And to tell you the truth, I rather a DVXuser get the 57k than that Monalisa painting with Ketchup entry. The guy has talent I admit. But as a commercial it lacks a few things in my opinion.

Plus I'd like to keep loyal. And DVXusers have helped me much in the past, so I'd like to help back. :)

*edit: "oops. I just saw that you posted your youtube address. I'll take a look"

Hey there. I watched it and loved it, as I did most of the Heinz commercials that were posted here on the forum. I have a question. I've gone through about all 3898 (or whatever) videos and didn't see mine. I posted it the Sunday morning before the contest was officially over and have yet to see it posted to the actual TopThisTV youtube area. Also, I never got one of those "you screwed up" emails either. So, I feel like I'm sitting in limbo as if it never got submitted. Has anyone had that problem?

BTW, I would have started a new post for this, but it seems kinda out there for a whole new topic. If I'm wrong, let me know and I'll start the new post.

THANKS SO MUCH, Guys!

It took 3 or 4 days for them to get mine up on the site and I submitted a few days before the deadline. They probably had a bunch of entries at the deadline an they need to go through them. I heard today from someone and it's unconfirmed that there are over 8 thousand entries.

Yeah, I've been looking on there since the deadline and they've been adding videos left and right, but I think that on Friday the number hit a wall and hasn't updated. I just don't want to get left in the dust, y'know. There are a few videos on there that look absolutely amazing and make me wonder what the hell these guys are doing making a Heinz contest commercial as opposed to being on Hollywood. Nuts I tell ya, nuts!

We didn't get any emails or anything until we officially got accepted to the contest. that was quite a few days after the contest ended so i was worried i messed up the registration or something. It does seem like they've put everything up by now though. Have you emailed them about it?

I haven't received an email at all and I don't even know the address to which I can email about my video. It was actually a cute little video and I really was hoping to get it in the contest. So, just to confirm, everyone got an email once the video was accepted to the contest? If anyone has any information for me, please let me know.

I never got an email. I did get a YouTube message telling me that the video had been accepted and uploaded, but that I needed to be sure I'd also done the registration on the Heinz site. While I'm fairly certain that it was submitted, I never got any kind of confirmation. I sent a YouTube message back asking about this, but never got any response at all.

yeah, all i got was a youtube letter also.
I submitted the video twice (or tried to) and got a message that the video had already been registered.

Well, this sucks. Tomorrow is the results day and I have yet to see my video posted, and never got an email about anything. There have been 3989 videos posted since last Friday, so it's not like they've been adding any. I did everything the right way: posted it two days before the deadline (not like it was the deadline day). I even heard that people posted theirs on the deadline day and see them on there. And it's not like I just took a home video camera and pointed it at my dog. I actually had a crew and such, and now I have to tell them that the results are tomorrow and we never made it in the contest. That's my heartache. These guys were looking forward to this. And to top it all, I can't get ahold of anyone at Heinz. I have no contact information for this contest.

Sorry to vent, it's just frustrating. I guess I can hope for a miracle. If not, I'll be looking for a new brand of ketchup to eat. I just dislike it when organizations hold contests or promotions in a very disorderly fashion.

hey John,

the results are actually either the 27th of this month or the 28th.

As for your video not getting a number, if you didn't get one yet, chancer are you are not going to get one at all. I would contact heinz headquarters, and find out who you can talk to about this. (it will probably lead you to a 5 day 100 phone call goose chase, but if you really want to get answers, that is the only way)

I've also seen another entry that didn't get in because they filmed at a laundromat and didn't cover the logo of the laundry machine. Review your footage, and make sure there are no logos or anything that can cause concern to the laywers at heinz.

sorry to hear that. do you have a link to a version of your commercial?
oopss, I just saw that you do have a link to the video.

29 seconds
sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. It had to be EXACTLY 30 seconds? Mine was 29.83 seconds long in Final Cut. What's the big deal with this? Shouldn't I get an email about this then?

They can't tell that it was 29.83seconds. it only shows as 29 seconds on youtube. in their eyes, you didn't qualify.

And even if they knew it was 29.83 they never instituted or stated that they would contact you if your video didn't qualify so that you can correct the issues.

They didn't even get to give numbers to all videos submitted the last day until 5 days later.

I submitted a second entry that Matt and I did to youtube about 10mins before the deadline. Youtube was overwhelmed encoding videos from the heinz contest I'm assuming and they didn't get me my URL on time. I registered the video 10 mins late. So I uploaded the video 10 mins early and registered it on the heinz web site 10 mins late. Well, it wasn't my fault that Youtube had a 20 min lag to encode videos, but I didn't get in.

Fortunately, the entry wasn't as strong as the other one we did.

Again, sorry to hear that you missed it because of such a minute discrepancie. :(

Yeah, I guess it's frustrating, but next time I do something I'll make sure to check 80 billion times. By the way, I've seen approximately 1 out of every 4 videos on the actual Heinz Top This TV area that were 29 seconds. Not sure how they managed to get past the censors, unless I might still have a chance. Who knows. I'd like to hope that they take into account the whole 29.whatever amount of seconds some might have had. But then again, it's big business. They never look at that kind of stuff.

Yeah, I think I'm going to. I thought someone said that the results weren't til the 27th/28th? I see this thing on the side of the youtube videos that says,
"Results Announced September 16, 2007"

Weird. Anyway, OH and just to let you know, I found one that was 31 seconds. That's just plain weird. Anyway, thanks for all the help on this. Sorry I was Angry-Man. i was just frustrated. It might have been only been a 30 second piece, but the amount of work is far more than 30 seconds. Congrats on your awesome videos guys.
