Stella Polaris is a free outdoor chill-out event held annually in Aarhus and Copenhagen, Denmark.
I managed to catch the last 2 of hours of the gig in Aarhus, which featured DJ Pete Gooding - and I brought my trusty A1.

(Slow freebie host, my apologies)

Still new to cameras/editing etc, so comments/critiques/questions are very welcome...

Nice footage! The colors really POP! Looks like a good time too!

I can do alot better - but I was too self-conscious about my walk because of all the hawt chicks :)

 - yeah, you captured that pretty good too!

Thanks for posting this. The merlin stuff was interesting because I am looking at getting on of these too, so if (with a little practice) results like this or better are easy to acheive then I will buy one....

Mostly I enjoyed this clip, but, as ever, the one thing that bugged me was the speed of panning. As an example, the pan at around 00:00:34 and again at 00:00:38 is fast enough that the auto focus (and probably an effect of the shutter speed) is having major issues, meaning that so much is out of focus, and my eyes are strained - I guess they are trying to find a point of focus, or focus 'everything'. Maybe it's just me, but that is my one negative observation. On the whole, I liked it :D

Thank you. And yes, the colors do pop. "Don't judge a book by it's cover"....and "Don't judge a Canon by it's factory preset" - the A1 is capable of amazing colors straight out of the camera.

I posted a video from my first day as a Merlin owner, you may want to check it out: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=101901

The shots you mention are Merlin pans, telephoto, mid-range f-stop and manual focus if I remember correctly. I guess the effect you describe is mainly caused by framerate/shutter, which was 25f at 1/50.
For an example of the smooth wideangle pans that you can produce with the Merlin look at 1:36.

Thanks - I already saw this video somewhere - maybe YouTube? I am just looking around at dealers (who I trust) and prices for a Merlin. B&H are at $799, whereas Calumet in the UK (where I am) are at £645 ($1300) !!! So, I may just get one from B&H shortly. I need it to run on both the HV20 and hopefully an XH A1 is that's there way I choose to go in the next couple of weeks.....

Yeah, I posted on YouTube aswell.
The Merlin is disgustingly overpriced in Europe ($1600 in Denmark) - I got mine from Adorama, New York. Even if you have to pay VAT/Duty it should be cheaper.
If you are worried about warranty issues try contacting Tiffen.

If you order from the US be sure to get the version with the free travel case.
