New short made with A1/RedRock M2...

Here's a short I made with a couple of friends. I wanted to do some tests in terms of editing a scene with dialogue. There wasn't as much light as I would have liked, but it was kind of a last minute thing. It was shot on the XHA1 at 1080 with a RedRock M2 35 adapter and a Nikon 50mm lens. Thanks for watching!

Until I can get a high quality version uploaded, YouTube will have to do. Hang in there.

You did a good job for only having two angles to cut between. You probably could have told me you had 2 cameras and I would have believed it, which means you did a good job editing.

edit: I like how I said "you did a good job..." twice and they line up.

would it be possible to post a still frame? i would love to get a better idea of the potential sharpeness of this setup - youtube makes everything look so soft.

also, did you do any color correction?

which settings (file type, size) did you use to upload to youtube...? looks good.

I exported to an MP4 (using a variant of the badass H.264 codec) at 480x270 using Vegas 7. I was going to use a MOV file but when I uploaded it to YouTube, it made the video stick and stutter. Hence, the MP4. The file I uploaded to YouTube was only 17 megabytes.

Hope that helps.

There was no color correction per se, but I did adjust the contrast and brightness as YouTube tends to slightly darken whatever I upload.

I'll try and get some stills up later.

I've had a couple people tell me they felt "voyeuristic" when watching this, as according to them, the actors seemed to be very natural. This is something I was going for, as I like to have a high level of realism in my stuff.

I know it's hard for some of us to ignore the tech aspects sometimes and just let the story wash over, but did anyone else get this vibe when they watched it?

I watched it just now. I really liked it. You definitely could of fooled me say you used two cameras.

It sort of agree with what you say a couple other people said. Voyeuristic, yeah. The actors did feel very natural, as far as maybe a dull date or dull night in goes. But, I was fairly intrigued, once I realized that it wasn't going to go much further than where it was.

I think it really could have improved with maybe a steady handheld feel, so it's a bit more like you're the third person there, if what you're really going for is a high realism.

Then, I'd say, location is character. The location looked really dull, which I think would have been perfect considering the characters and how alone they are together in the room.
