HV20 Adapters and FCP Playback Questions

For one, which of the 35mm adapters out there do people recommend? I'm torn between the cheaper, bulkier M2 from Red Rock, or the lighter, run and gun style of the Brevis from Cinevate. Opinions? Or, better yet, actual advice from users?

Also, has anyone been able to get passthrough from FCP 6 into the HV20 (as an external playback device) to work for them? I want to use the camera to do quick color checks until I can afford a Kona or like card. Any advice on this?

Great forums, always full of info and informed users. Glad to finally be a part of it.

You can't do pass-thru on an HDV camcorder. The very nature of HDV itself (compressing video as a group of frames) prevents that. You'd have to pre-render a section and then "print to video" if you want to see your output through an HDV camcorder.

Actually, I had some luck here, with a simple FCP restart and using NTSC Firewire Output. Yes, the video you see is only NTSC, and not HDV, but since I only want it for color checking on a monitor, it should suit me fine... for now.

Anyone want to weigh in on the adapter question?

Right, it'll work for DV, that's no problem. It's trying to monitor high-def as a pass-thru that won't work.

As for adapters, it seems to be the same basic "usual suspects" as everywhere else. I've put the Letus35 FE on the HV20 just to see what'd happen, and it seems to work. Dennis of CineVate has shown a whole rig of HV20 stuff with the Brevis, etc.
