Hey guys,

Just finished a little vid for a friend's band called 'This Town Needs Guns' from the UK, Oxford. I shot it with 2 friends over a very wet weekend. We had to quickly get the shots inbetween the rain showers. Didn't spend a penny on this and kind of made it up as we went along, but hopefully it'll make at least some sense.

(mp4 opens with quicktime 7)

Shot on PAL DVX 25P Squeeze, no adapter or lighting. Magic bullet colour grading to all shots with film clutter on opening puppet shots.

Song is called 'HippyJamFest'. They released it in 2006. Should be doing some more vids for them soon.

Let me know what you think good or bad.

Thanks.

I didn't like the concept at all. The idea behind music videos is to serve as a vehicle to sell the music. When the video instead is distracting, as it is here, it takes away from the music. I found the puppet thing stupid and irritating, and totally distracting.

Decent DP work. The editing was plodding at best.

I don't understand...I actually liked it! I had no qualms with the editing, and the cinematography was pretty good. True it was a bit random, but other than that i felt it was a pretty unique music video, and it suited the song fairly well.

Does it really suck that much? It's kind of an experiment really, i'm not even sure if the band are gonna use it, just wanted to make something.

Oldcorpse, there's no need to mock my thread, ok so you don't like it, fine, no problem.

any more critisism welcome

I actually liked this one, I think randomness fits well here. I don't understand the harsh critisism.

I did not mock your thread. I mocked the guy whose single response was a one word quote with a question mark. Wrt. your video, I explained what I thought worked, and what did not work and why. It's just my opinion, and I'm sure some will agree and some not, just like anybody's opinion. You asked for feedback, I gave it - what you do with that is up to you.

Thanks for your feedback. I don't mind that you didn't like it. It just sounded like you were taking the pi$$.
