Glidecam smooth shooter + HVX + SGPRO

Not thinking about the obvious focus problems without a remote control, will the HVX and SGPRO fit on the glidecam 4000 or is it too heavy for the spring arm?

Any one had any experience, is there a trick to strengthen the springs a little without having to buy more ****?

Any help greatfully appreciated. ta
 
I uses my HVX, lite panel with battery, Senken CS1 Mic onboard, Zacuto base plate, FS100 storage, with Glidecam Smooth shooter and Glidcam 4000 without any problem.
It's pretty heavy with out Glidecam smooth shooter.

that is so cool. i'm thinking of adding the Ss to my GC4000. sweet set up. any actual footage with this set up?
 
With Smooth shooter, gc 4000 and Brevis. No monitor or Follow Focus. No problem with the rig, but Focusing and framing is very difficult- I think adding an on board Monitor (marshal, etc.) is pushing the GC to its limit.
 
The real problem here (which can not be over-looked) is how to properly focus.

And that has nothing to do with the monitor.

mikkow: We ran some tests a few weeks ago with a Brevis, smooth shooter, glidecam 4000 pro and a Canon HX A1 and noticed that s we were walking with it, smooth as can be, there were little bumps in the image as if the length of the entire rig suffered soem sort of shock factor that would slightly bump the 35mm lens/adapter/image, sometimes it was very slight, othertimes not so. do you know a reason for this? or how to avoid/fix it?
 
A poorly designed stage can allow for a minute amount of vibration between the various parts (for example the sliding plates may be slightly loose).

You don't normally notice this with a lighter camera at wider angles (which is why the Glidecam gets away with it normally), but once you start to load up the stage (for example with a 35mm adapter on a camera of the A1's size), the vibration becomes sevear enoguh to be noticable.

Make sure that all the adjustments and connections (like the stage to the post) are nice and tight on the rig to minimize vibration.

is it true glidcam has a backorder 30+ days for the smooth shooter?
looking to buy this but dont want to wait that long if this is true.
 
mikko, any other suggestions besides the things being properly connected? Do you not suffer from this at all?

if not i guess we need to run more tests.
 
If it wobbles, the only advice is to tighten it and take out the slop.

And no, neither of my my Steadicam's Stages have any slop in them.


The vibration could also be caused by something else loose on the sled - If you have a monitor mounted poorly for example, it can cause vibration at speed which will transfer throguht the rest of the sled. Check *everything* for tightness.
