Hi all!
This is my first post to the DVXuser forum but I have been eyeballing the market place section for quite some time. I’m always wary of forums that sell used equipment because you never know what you’ll get. I usually do ebay or craigslist for used gear but I saw many great items being sold here and many buyers confidently buying so I thought I’d see if it was a scam or if it was for real.
I was scanning around for a HVX-200 package and some pro audio gear with no luck but I did see a FireStore FS-100 for sale for $1300 from Dxmetal. I contacted him and he was very quick to respond and we negotiated the deal with free shipping. Before I paypaled to close the deal I contacted Dxmetal again just to see if he was selling any other gear specifically--- the HVX and Redrock M2 HD adapter.
Well sometimes when you ask you will receive!
It just so happened he was just about ready to sell his HVX and M2 as well some other high quality video and pro audio gear. He emphasized how impeccably clean and what excellent shape his gear was in. He also said that if I could fly down from Philly to check out his gear in Tupelo, Mississippi I’d believe him. Well, unfortunately I couldn’t fly down south but I did get him to send some high quality pics of his gear and I was pretty convinced. After some back and forth PMing and a few phone calls, I basically cleaned out all of Dxmetal’s gear.
My grand total--$11,100!!!
Included in the price tag was the following gear:
1.Varizoom VZ-ROCK-PZFI zoom, focus, iris control

To be honest, I was a little scared sending more than 11 thousand dollars to someone who I spoke to briefly and PM’d via this forum because if I were to lose my money even paypal was not going to cover me if anything bad happened. But I did my research just to be sure and I saw that Dxmetal was a well respected member of this community and had gotten some great feedback before from selling previous items from the marketplace section so I went forward with it.
Dxmetal even reassured me and said, “Actually, just send a check. I work at a university. You’ll be able to find me. I’m not going anywhere.” So to save on paypal fees I sent the check!! The day the check cleared from his bank Dxmetal Fedexed all the gear.
I finally got everything today and let me tell you it’s just as he said! First of all, everything was packed with great care. The camera was double boxed. Everything was super bubble wrapped. He took great care to make sure all his babies would get to me safely. And once opened, I swear you’d think the HVX was never operated. All the Nikon and M2 lenses were super clean. Even the tripod was immaculate.
All I got to say is Dxmetal’s words are worth its weight in gold and it was truly a great experience to purchase items from him. He was very friendly and super knowledgeable giving advice for other 35mm lenses that I might want to add to my collection in the future as well as tips for the HVX including preventative care to prevent firewire port burnout on the camera. All in all, my highest recommendations to those who would want to purchase from DxMetal. He’s got high quality gear, keeps them pristine, is super trustworthy and has great follow through!
All in all, my first transaction here in the marketplace section of DVXuser was a great success. I will certainly be coming back maybe not too soon but soon enough!! It’s the real deal here!
Looking forward to more great transactions!
