i just received my 2nd ikan replacement monitor today because the first one had a coupla problems and what do you know? they send me another f&^$d up monitor with the same problem plus more. i'm going to send this damn thing back one more time before getting a refund..........

i guess you get what you pay for but damn $800 aint exactly cheap to me......maybe for a monitor i guess though......

luckily i've bought it from an honest dealer who doesn't have an issue sending me another unit and they've sent me this unit before i even return the defective one back. now i'm sitting here with two defective units.

sorry for the rant...

this is why marshalls are expensive. Its not the panel thats expensive, its the electronics, that run the panel. those have to be up to snuff on the professional level.

i am learning that the freaking hard way.......... :badputer:

i was not expecting it to look as sharp as the marshall but i at least expected it to work! would you like to trade your marshall for two defective ikan monitors?

No way..... :) when it comes to video gear, and there are two options, one being priced 500$ higher.... buy the higher priced one.

can you post a link to which one you are talking about? is it HD? i was under the impression the marshall was closer towards $2k

I had the Marshall and returned it because of flicker when using it with HVX.
Have they fixed that problem?
I currently use the Ikan and it's just as sharp - image wise- as the Marsahll was.
It's also much lighter which is nice since I mount it to my rails.
Although I'll admit the build is a bit flimsy.

Where are you guys finding the New HD Nebtek? And it's only $500 more than the IKAN? I paid $700 for the IKAN and the cheapest HD Marshall with Pana Battery is $2,000.

Here is the link to BH for the Marshall - 1800 and that is for the kit - for just the monitor you can get it for as little as 1399. I have seen the Nebtek version for around the same price.
Personally I purchased the ToteVision for the exact same reason. The Tote and Ikan are decent monitors and great values. The Panasonic is a Great monitor with good value, and the Marshall is right in the middle - good Monitor decent value.

im pretty sure the 500$ more expensive panasonic monitor does waveform and Vector scope. all the panasonic monitors do. thats why the 17" is $3500. its the circuitry and the capabilities.

It is a slippery slope. You will always want the next better step up, until you are broke.
At some point you just have to stop and settle for what you can work with.
