Grabs From new Short

Mark Harris

Pain in the ass
First time shooting 1080. Things went well, though I screwed up on this day and shot 1080 24p. So I cannot use Raylight. Have to figure out my options for fixing it. I imagine I can just use FCP, right?

Also played around this time with smoking up the room. Got some nice stuff, and want to do this some more.

Have another shoot Thurs, and then next week. Hopefully will have this done in Aug:

Enjoy!

Raylight cannot convert 30P to 24P if that's what you mean, but you can still edit 30P with Raylight.

Sorry, I meant to say I shot 1080 24p. As I understand it, Raylight cannot do that, right?

Is that something you will add eventually, or is it just not possible?

For 1080i/24P (3:2 pulldown) what I recommend to remove the pulldown is convert to Raylight AVI with RayMaker and then use After Effects to remove the 3:2 pulldown, compressing back to Raylight AVI. Use the native frame size in and out.

It isn't possible to do it from 60i without recompression so I don't think it will ever be a standard feature

Yeah, I tried a runoff out of Vegas and then removing it with AE. Also, Edius seems to handle it pretty effortlessly. So I got some options.

Thanks!

Ah I think I see what you did.

You must have accidentally turned off Automatic Timuring, The Automatic Timuring feature will catch things like that for you. :)

Yeah the 2nd one is cool, but I like the 1st one too.

Bloody nose? Done a re-write, eh?

Well I just made that moment where she throws him off/hits him more violent. I wanted a more visual read on exactly how violent the moment is. So she clocks him in the act of throwing him off.

oops my apolygies, i forgot to add the A in the 24p, cause i do a lot of 24pA and raylight does it fine

Added some more grabs to the first post from today's shoot. Big thanks to Timur for lensing today. He brought his usual superior skillz and general fun to work with-ness to the table.

I like the barrel distortion in the one where they are making out in the bookshelves, probably partly necessity due to the close quarters? ... anyway, knowing something about the story, I like how the barrel distortion makes things look, well, distorted. Like there world is a bit out of control or off kilter at this moment of embrace.

Also like the way the kid looking through the door is framed too, and the way the side sunlight shapes his face.

Q: Is the shot where they are making out on the bookshelves handheld or lockdown?
