It's one of my favorite movies.

But after a couple years, I have to ask... because I still don't know the answer.

What's the relationship between Clint Eastwood and his real daughter?
He writes her? Or she writes him? What caused their distant relationship?

i dont think it really explained it that i remember. if i had to guess i think he writes her but she doesnt write back. i'll have to go watch it again and find out.

i agree its a great movie. i really liked it. one of my favs of 2004.

Yeah, it's not really explained. But I think his estranged relationship with his daughter is symbolic and gave his character the impetus to build a strong relationship with Hillary Swank's character...

Yah, stuff like this bugs the hell out of me.

I tried to pause the DVD on the letter to see who delivered the letter, and who recieved it, but I couldn't make the words out. I wass trying to figure out what the letter meant that was sent after Hillary Swank was hospitalized.

It's like Pulp Fiction. "What's in the box that glows?"

It's Mr. Wallace's soul that was taken by the devil.
(Hence the mark on the back of his neck, because when you sell your soul to the devil, he removes it from the back of your neck)

he writes her and she sends it "back to sender" w/o ever opening the letters. why the distance between them? i got the feeling that he took off and abandoned her.

I'm wondering if she wanted to be a boxer. There has to be a reason behind why he won't train girls to begin with. Mehbeh the mom was a boxer? :/

I think the reason why he won't train girls is because he feels responsible for his other boxer that got hurt ( the male one ) and he doesn't want to feel that again because she might get hurt more often than a man.

well here goes it was left intentionally out of the script leaving you to wonder he doesn't want a girl there because he can't relate like his daughter.and it hurts him he just doesn't know how to relate to women. that's all i got from him
