3rd Party Battery for the XH G1 & XH A1

There are some reports of third party battries getting stuck inside the A1.

Anyway if you can afford to buy a 3500 dollars camera, what is a $180 battery to you?

Thrid parties barttries are always a risk. A friend of mine had a third party battery meltdown on his XL2. Wasn't a pretty sight. It was a $1000 repair after.

Orginal battries tend to last longer too. I still got my XL1 battery on my A1.

If you still insist, you can get the Impact brand battries. It was recommand to me when I was shopping at B&H but I went on to buy the original Canon battery.

Impact batteries kick ass in the A1. Perfect fit, long life. No problems for me so far and I've used them almost exclusively since February--the dinky Canon battery that comes with the A1 is practically worthless. I'm lucky to get 3 hours out of it. I only use it if I know I'm on a short shoot, but most of my shoots last 8 hours or more. Why waste money on a name brand Canon battery? Put the extra dough into more blank tape, accessories, etc.

Why waste money on a name brand Canon battery?
In my experience, it's not necessarily a waste of money. Canon and Panasonic brand batteries may cost more but for me they last longer than the third party batteries. That being said, I have an Impact brand that works perfectly in my A1. However, in the long run, I don't expect it to last for as many charges as a Canon brand battery.
