A Moral Dilemma - Short Film

Heh, you seem to be our only fan AmyO. ;)

Thanks for watching. C'mon guys, no one else has seen it? 400 views and only 1 person, aside from Papa, has seen the trailer?
the editing felt a little sloppy on the trailer, mainly with the text but the build of tension was great. i still can't deny that i really want to see this short. whens it gonna be done!?

I liked the teaser much more than the clip, but it's hard to judge the clip out of context. I'm curious to what you were trying to emulate with the flashing light in the clip.

The teaser really piqued my interest in the film. It builds very nicely, although I kind of missed the voice over. I think the beginning of it got muddled with the music a bit. Might want to bump the music down a bit so the dialogue comes through. Other than that, it looks great. Let us know when we will be able to see this.

Thanks for the advice. Do you feel the editing felt sloppy because of the text, or how the text came in? As in did the timing feel off or was it just missplaced?

Damn, I was hoping it was loud enough. I bumped it up a bit because of that. Might be the compression though that's making it hard to hear with the music compared to in the editor.

I appreciate your opinions guys. The trailer was more of a procrastination on my part (and a bit of practice), so I'll just leave the trailer be and work on the film... whenever I can get the chance. But I'll watch for that stuff in the editing of my film.

Maybe I'll do a second edit of the teaser closer to the final launch.

Well obviously you'll need to see the clip in context. It was originally for the cast and crew, to let them see how the editing is going. I decided to show it here as well to maybe help show something more. But I guess it is a bit confusing out of context and people may lose the meaning.

The flashing (and the main character screaming) is really just representative of a chaotic mind both visually and in a metaphorical sense... if that makes sense, lol. I made the flashing more intense and added some white flashes, as seen in the trailer/teaser (whatever you want to call it).

Thanks guys. Right now I can't set a date untill all the shooting is done, and we can't get the shooting done untill our exec prod/main actor Papa is free from the evil clutches of school. We just have some establishing shots to do (as it was winter and had to wait for the snow to melt) and some more cutaway/insert shots.

But I am putting together the film with what we have, so once we shoot it, it shouldn't be too long. I'm hoping may/june it'll all be done, but we'll see.

well the cuts to the text were harsh, mainly with the soft music at first. it was a combination of the font, all lower case letters and the plain whiteness of it that made it seem amatuerish. i know that making text look good isn't easy but in a trailer it's definately worth the time. however, the trailer in it self made me wanna see the movie so it was a success none the less. :)

My heart goes out to the students from the Virginia Shooting, and all those who have been affected by this terrible sick act.

With the Virginia Shooting having just occured, I'm wondering what you all feel about this movie? Even though both sides are brought up and I don't think anyone will sympathize with the main character or what he's planning to do, I'm wondering if I should hold off on the film for a bit. I was hoping to get it done for a month or two from now, but perhaps I should hold off a maybe a few more months?

I would definately hold the release of this project for atleast a couple months, considering what I've seen so far. However, I don't know what kind of theme/style your film is portraying but if it possibly gives some kind of insight to why someone would even THINK about doing such a thing, maybe it would work. Tough call.

Yeah, I had a feeling. I mean school shootings seem to be occuring all around the world. I think there were 6 alone in the past year? Not too sure. But this was definetely a big one.

I'll wait a bit. Still have to shoot one final part, but I guess we'll take our time with the music and sound.

It may have worked if i had done a better job at the role.. man, what was i thinking taking on that...... yikes.

Jon, u got balls of steel, that "ping" like a doorbell when clunk together.

Thanks!

Just about to find out tonight or tomorrow on the shooting date for the final shots. Most of it is done in terms of a rough cut. But it's been lingering too long, so as soon as the final shots are done I'm going to really push to get it done. Final edit, then send it off to my composer while me and Papa deal with the sound and color correction. Hopefully we won't have to re-record any dialog as it will take longer.

Can't really give a date. I was originally aiming for winter, but that's how volunteer projects go unfortunately. :(

Hey Jon,
The teaser looks neat, you have a cool location there with the graffiti. Im looking forward to seeing the final edit. One little thing I felt I should mention was the gunshot sound effect. These can be really hard to get just right. Too me it was just an obvious gunshot effect. If you are planning on using shots in your final movie you might wanna find a different effects bank, or try differnt sound. Looks good tho overall!

Thanks for the comment. You're right. Just took a gun shot sound I had on my comp. I'll be sure to use a better sound for the movie if I do. Thanks!

Hey guys, updated the news section.

Mcph55, I have no authoring programs, but if people want I can burn the movie onto a DVD.
