What good is a MACK warranty

I have never had one of these MACK warranties. I hear a lot of posts mention it. What does it cover? Is it better than a regular panny one or the double coverage of AMEX cards?

I have read about it but have not found real world expierences with anyone needing to use the warranty.

What happens if my camera gets messed up by normal wear and tear? Is the mack good for that? IS it a sort of insurance? They are expensive.

Thanks for your time.

I've heard that some dealers who sell gray market cameras use Mack warranties.

Since the manufacturer doesn't cover the gray market imports, bundling the multi-year Mack warranty with the camera allows the dealer to offer warranty coverage without the buyer questioning the expense.

Mack warranties usually include routine cleaning and maintenance... I hear they're pretty good.. I'm looking into one myself...

I would strongly urge anybody to stay away from them. They are useless unles you want to pay a few hundred dollars for cleaning your camera heads.

I had a broken Firewire port on my Sony VX-2000 and they would never repair it, claiming it was my own fault.

I told them that hooking up the firewire cord to the PC while it was on is "normal usage" and that they should cover it. They told me I had applied excess voltage and they didn't have to fix it.

So much for the $300 warranty extension so they could clean the heads on my camera….

Mack told me to contact Sony about the problem, because it wasn't theirs.

So I call Sony, and they said that they didn't have to warrant me because I didn't use a Sony firewire cable.

I bet had I told them that I used one they would have said "well you didn't use a Sony VAIO so that voided your warranty too"

Search the web about Mack Warranties and you'll see the headaches that people put up with them. MACK WARRANTYS ARE NOT WORTH IT. Try to find a local repair shop that will sell you a warranty, or just save yourself the money so when it does break you can pay for it. (Instead of throwing away 300$ just to be asked to pay another $300 to fix your camera)

Search Google for "MACK warranty problem", and you'll hear the other stories other than mine.

Wow Demistate that sounds lame! Maybe Mack is is not so cool.

There are lots of different opinions on MACK. Like all net "info" you should take any recommendation/review with a "grain of salt".

YMMV is appropriate with MACK. I had a good result from an expensive repair they did...................... but that doesn't mean you will have the same experience.
