Pig, dogs, barbeque & SGPro.

Soooo nice imagery!
And that piggy!
Please tell me you´re vegetarian, you can´t possibly feed the one and eat the other, or?

Dont worry, the pig is not a cannibal...yet. He prefers to eat cows and other animals, he would probably eat me if he had the chance.
And no, I'm not a vegetarian, it would be cruel to eat up the food which cows are supposed to eat.

I use the Varizoom 7" monitor.

sgpro...Do you loose light with that thing, it looks well lite for shooting in the shadows. And the focus looks sharper than the leica lens by itself? I can see the pupils of the pig and dog easily! I think I like these things cause they seperate the subject from the background very easily.

Smettli...Would you say the 35mm adapter is a "must have" for the dvx owner?

I'm diggin your video.

Well, talking about "must have", really mathers on what kind of shooting you are doing. Are you a documentarist, then the whole setup is too bulky and it does loose light as well. But are you a cinematographer and going for beatiful pictures then I would say it's a "must have", at least for me. I have taken off my adapter only once since I got it, because I was filming my friends bachelor party. And I was crying on the inside because once you have tried the sgpro, then the plain dvx is just boring to film with. In my opinion, the possibilties and control you have with with a 35mm adapter strikes out all the negativites with the light loss and bulkiness, because using 35mm lenses are so much fun! When I'm behind that 7" monitor, I'm in my own world :)

- Cheers!

I just did a search with "Smelttli & Gspro" I not done yet but I've watched most of your video's now, I think your coming off my buddy list cause your gonna cost me money. lol

Hey, do more stuff like the gun video...I saw something there...really shook me, though Arnold's working for you too. Hell, shoot anything you want, "content is still king" and you come up with some pretty good stuff!

Hehe, thanks.

I just need a silly reason to shoot someone/something, I always enjoy firing guns!
I'm shooting a music vid on tuesday, maybe I can a sneak a gun with me and scare the crew.....,there is always room for a pistol :)

yeah im starting to get excited everytime i see your name and adapter footage next to it...awesome. i want that pig.

"film burn" effect

"film burn" effect

footage is beautiful. How did you achieve the cool film burn effects. The one on the dog looks like an additive dissolve, could be wrong. Another earlier on where the dude is drinking and looking at the lens has a quick blue flash, followed by red, the a cut. Did you go frame by frame and CC that one? Thanks in advance!

SG pro Costs?

SG pro Costs?

every time I watch this footage I feel there is a void to fill in my life...

What are we looking to spend if we want the whole setup (good 35mm lens, follow focus, and anything else that is essential)? Are we talking bake sale or bank robbing?

Hey dudes.
The transition with the dog is "additive dissolve", yes. The other ones with the burn effects are done with Artbeats Film Clutter, where you put a clip of film glitch on top of your clip.
My whole setup is not more than the sgpro and a lens, you dont' have to rob a bank to get it :)

how do you do that rad transition thingey?

how do you do that rad transition thingey?

hey Smettli,

love that < flashing transition > you're doing,
how is it done?
are you using fcp?

we did all these long takes on my film, and need a way
to cut them, (jump cut) them that doesn't
look awkward. (fading a bit helps but i like your
light flash transition better.

the editing in 'grill.mov' is super sweet, btw.

Hey dude.
I work in premiere, and the flash transition is easy done by applying the the "additive dissolve" transition between clips. Though I would never use it in a film with a story, only in music driven clips. I find any dissolve between shots annoying when following a story with characters and dialog. But that is of course a matter of taste :)

I'm trying to gather the troops for a new short, but you know...people are busy :)
And I just got two jobs which will probably keep my SGpro busy and happy for a little while forward. Yay.
