TRV900 - Uhm.. what?

Hey all!
I recently bought a trv900e off a friend and I'm not that aquainted with this product, even though its almost older than me.

Now, the thing(s) I wanted to ask is;

1) is possible to rig up a 35mm adapter to the trv900?

2) what other configurations can one make in the sense of lenses and extra gear etc.

and

3) What framerate is the Progressive Scan on the TRV900e? [if anyone knows]

I'm open to any suggestions and info. Thank you all
 
Ha. The TRV900 was the first camera I ever owned. I had some good times with that camera...

I don't see why it wouldn't work with a 35 adaptor. And, I'm fairly certain the Progressive Scan is 30 fps, but from what I remember, it looks a bit like 24.
 
It will record and playback 30P, not sure about lenses, but i have seen a wide angle on it and a fisheye.
 
If that 30P is encoded in a 60i file, then yes. It's a DV camera so it'll play back DV. If you took a DVX 30P tape and put it in a TRV900 then yes it'd play back.

But the TRV900 and VX1000 both had 15P progressive modes.

I still have a 900 (in the shop now going on 16 weeks... grrrr). It was a solid camera for the most part. I really really recomend a varizoom LANC controller (or similar brand) for this and other Canon/Sony consumer cameras. It really helps out for control of zooms. If the camera doesn't look that great, take it to a sony authorized service center for a $100 cleaning, and it will be bright and clear as the day it was new again. Cleaning tapes do little good. Good camera in daylight, great camera in low light. Held it's own agains the VX2000, though not as good, but a nice 1st camera or later as a backup camera.
 
but its a TRV900E which is PAL. regular recording would be 25 FPS. idk if PAL footage is normally recorded as interlaced or not but that would make it look very similar to 24P. well im pretty sure about that, i may be worng.
now as for lenses
you could get a nikon FC-E9 fisheye converter with a 52 - 46mm step down ring. the angle of view on that lens is 193 degrees at the vignetting, you would need to zoom through a lot of it though. and since there's macro elements in that lens you could zoom through the vignetting even further and use it as a wide angle lens.

Regular PAL recording is not 25p, it's 50 fields per second, and looks nothing whatsoever like 24p. It looks like video pure and simple.
 
My first camera, and the one that got me the first paid job in the industry. Won an award with a short poem/video montage shot in this thing.

Also did some small tv spots broadcasted on local tv with it. It has a solid picture that survives very well to color correction. Its in my humidity box. I replaced it with the original DVX.

AS for the progressive scan and film look... What I used to do back in those days (Was it 1999?) was to use a shutter speed of 25. It emulated a "25p" look. Of course, it was probably in cam deinterlacing, but it worked. Never used the 15fps Progressive Scan. It might be an interesting choice for Night urban scenes with cars and buildings.
