Hey guys, me and a four my buddies entered a 48 hour film contest this weekend and just wanted to share what we came up with. Shot with an XH-A1 and a Redrock M2. I didn't write or direct the piece but I was the director of photography, did picture and sound editing, do vfx, color grade, and score the piece. We managed to pull it off and still get plenty of sleep! Anyway, here it is and tell me what you think!

well, the framing, lighting, sound, vfx, grading and music were fantastic. but the acting put me to sleep. lol

great job on your part me amigo.

hey marlon, looked realy nice.but maybe you should warn about the laguage just in case anyone has their kids running around while viewing.

What 48hours contest was it? I just entered the New Zealand one and it was good fun. Audience award runner up

Nice work Marlon. I liked the idea, the dialogue was well written and the image quality was way above the usual miniDV standard of those 48 hour comps. Just a shame the acting was so flat.

Just on a visual note, I wasn't super keen on the strength of the blue in some of the interior shots. I know he was feeling "blue", hence the colouring, but I felt it could have looked a little warmer whilst still achieving the same effect. But that's just nit-picking really, great work on your part for 48 hours work.

Liked the vfx as well - how did you create that blast of air when she disappears? Was it just manhandling a fan on full blast?

I liked it overall. One thing I thought could use a little work was the audio. What was your audio setup? It sounded to me that all you had was the shotgun on the camera.

I acted in the 48HFP here in Minneapolis. From the 22 movies I saw, plus yours, your photography is bar none above and beyond, best that I've seen.

Good work.

I'm just getting into the video/film business and when I see your work Marlon, I'm just amazed at how good you are, nice man.

Very nice work Marlon.

Ncie referred to your use of the XH A1 for some comp/keying work on this short.

How much/which footage was from the XH A1?
