Horzontal line "stairstepping" Help!

Can anyone tell me how to eliminate that vibrating horizontal line jitter that can be seen on shots with the fore mentioned. ie roof with shingles, etc.
Note: I like to rev up detail...Have I answered my own question? Verticle line detail??

I just got a dvx100b and I was shooting this weekend and I noticed a lot of stairstepping on the stair railings and the eves of roofs, is this just dv footage or do I need to adjust settings.

Is this the same problem you are experiencing?

Stairstepping is just the term I made up. It's more likely a prob with interlacing on a standard TV. I guess it's the horizontal camera lines merging with horizontal subject lines like small brick wall patterns and such. Anyway I don't like it and would love to minimize it. Any suggestions would be helpful!! I've noticed that even 35mm film transfered to video has this issue when displayed on a regular old tv. I'm thinking lower the detail or keep it at zero or less?

I shot 24pa and I got more interlacing than regular 24p. Any idea about that?

Not using correct pull down. As to the first poster. Sounds like it has nothing to do with interlacing and everything to do with vertical detail levels being too high.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll do some more testing. Back in the old days we would just take a small tweeker stick and turn down the enhancement. Not sure how that equates to the dvx, maybe just tweek all detail type settings down a bit. I'm guilty of of turning all detail settings up to super sharp...in my attempt to emulate HD. It's funny, when I shot film I would diffuse it with filters to take the "Edge" off. I'm going to join Over Detail Anonymous!

I can't figure out how to choose which pulldown, when I chance from 3:2 to 3:2:2:3 there is no difference, it all still looks crappy.

had the same problem with my footage, especially after exporting to film/avi. One reason might have been the camera setting since I shot with THIN line, shot in 25p.
Still experencing with PPro 2, I figured out it matters which compressor you use for rendering. The best results I had with the "Microsoft Windows Media Codec 9" compressor.

could it be that its just because your shooting in SD?
whenever i have diagonal lines, they always had little blocks and steps because there just isnt enough resolution

??
