Any Further News On 16 GB Shipping Dates?

re1000, yeah i think im going to do that tomorrow. ive been on the list since like april somthing and it doesnt seem to be getting anywhere. it just sucks cuz usually they are really reliable and this is just a big let down. hmm i think im going to call around to local stores and see whats going on maybe i can actually get somewhere. thank for your suggestion.

hey does anyone know what the deal with the rebates? where do they fit into the timeline?

Okay, let's be realistic, Panasonic said 32s by December, so you can actually by one my March or April ;-)

I can live wiith that, they arrive when they arrive. For what I mostly shoot, even the 8s are workable so the 32s will be sheer luxury.

A few Minutes ago I bought 2 8Gig Cards for 400$ each! Yes, lucky me. My dealer had them in stock and wanted to get rid of them because he is such a Sony-Pu..y.

I therefore can easily skip the 16 Gig Cards and wait for the 32 G's.

Wow, what luck! And I thought I was lucky when I found one 8gb card, but it was for $650. (almost a month ago)

I just contacted WILLOUGHBYS about 16gb p2's. Said they have 2 in stock, and they are going for $1249.00 Isn't list on these 900? I know there is a demand for these cards but COME ON!

Not a place I would ever want to do business with.

Sure beats using Firestore and having your footage corrupted :-Mad(DBG):

my hvx rental guy here in l.a. has two of the 16gb cards for rent. i have them for the next week but after that they are up for grabs...

Not sure what value this has, but Panasonic has posted a new release about shipping 16gb P2 cards.

http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wc...toreId=11301&catalogId=13251&catGroupId=30602

There is two weird things in one single sentence in that article:

Panasonic also announced that its 32GB P2 card would be available by year-end at a price of $1,800, effectively quadrupling the storage capacity of its previous P2 card.

1) How can the 32GB card "quadruple" the capacity of its previous card? (16GB)
2) Why 1'800 USD ? That is supposed to be the price if the card was out TODAY, but until "end-year" the price should be between 25%-50% less following the usual P2 price developing.

Even with all the hassle and expense of getting the P2 cards it is TOTALLY WORHT IT. I used the firestore last week and that turd corrupted all my footage after 50 minutes. I hope my sad story saves other shooters from a similar disaster.

Because this was the announcement for the 16GB card, meaning that the previous card was at 8GB.

Why don't we wait and see what the price will be -- the debut of the 32GB cards is about half a year away, and alot can happen between then and now.

1) No - if you read carefully, it says "its previous card" in the sentence about the 32GB card that will come in the end of the year. Of course: NO P2 card quadruplicates its previous card... But we all know what they mean ;) with the its they really seem to be talking still about the 16GB card from the previous paragraph.

2) and I'm sure the 32GB card will either NOT start at that price or they would break a tradition...... they simply should not have mentioned any price parallel to a open P2 price-developement plan.

The 32GB card will be IMHO the point where all discussion about low rec times lose ground and yet the future: 64GB... 128GB... !! - That will pass both cassette and Professional Disc. I really hope we'll see one day such cards as 128GB or even 256GB cards!
