The Union: the business behind getting high - Trailer

Hello, just thought I'd share the film trailer for the doc I've been working on for the last while. I enjoy so many videos here, I thought it was time to contribute a little. This was very close to being shot on the HVX but the camera hadn't come out in time for me to start the doc off shooting on it. Instead we invested in the SDX-900 and shot the film on that. - Don't mind the news footage in the trailer, there's alot of it - Pretty obvious to spot.

For the pretty version go to the trailer section here:

For the cheap and dirty, compressed to mud version go here:

This looks very nicely shot.

Could be great, and I certainly support sane legalization of mj (even though I'm not a user), but I gotta wonder: who are the target audience? I saw nothing in the trailer that I didn't know, so is this just gonna be another re-hash (pardon the pun) of info that's in wide circulation anyhow? Anything special about this one?

This looks outstanding. Fabulous trailer. Can't wait to purchase this on DVD. Are you accepting pre-orders?

Wow! Looks great. Old Corpse brings up a good point about your target audience, but I'm assuming you've addressed this, and you're getting citations in film festivals - so I'm as impressed with your overall execution and follow through as I am with what little I've seen of the film itself so far. I definitely want to see the full piece.

There is one, very nitpicky glitch that I spotted and, if you haven't already delivered your trailer and can still fix this, I would recommend it: your ellipsis following the text, "Whatever you do" towards the end has only two dots, which makes it look like a typo (well, I guess it is)

certainly not a huge deal, but it would make me crazy if it were mine.

Hello OldCorpse, thanks for the comment. Your concern is one that I had myself when I was asked to come on board for this project. That's why everything possible was done to make it something different and something people haven't seen before. The trailer is just a tease at this point and is no way a representation of the entirety of things to be learned in the doc. The doc gets right into a slew of subjects that haven't been put into a mainstream doc before including how the underground market works from top to bottom and the consequences that market creates. So far the response we're getting is amazing and people seem to want to watch this, (you'd be surprised what the average person does and doesn't know about the subject) so ath this point we're not overly worried about our target audience. We just won Best Documentary Feature at our first international film festival.

Thanks! We're not accepting pre-orders yet because we haven't decided on a distributor. We've had offers but we're waiting until we've run the festival circuit to pick up a distributor. Hopefully, it'll play at one near you!

Ha, ha, ha! Thanks Bus, you're totally right. I hadn't seen that there's only two dots until you mentioned it. That was definately a mistake. The DVX users miss nothing!

Looks nice. Have you ever been to holland? We don't have any problems related to marijuana just by taking it out of the illegal circuit.

Trailer looks good. Nice mood etc. Very political subject, that I will steer very clear of.

That was an awesome trailer. It looked really professional. I would see that documentary if it played near me. Great job all around, especially with the website too. Good luck with distribution.

Thanks smashedburrito & Durry Boi! We're trying to get it out there for you to see. We've had a couple of distributors approach us but we're waiting for the festival run first. Hopefully, one of the festivals lands near you! It's off to Rhode Island next.

Hey Tough Duck - looks really good. I'm working with the programming board for an international film festival in VT that takes place in october. The festival focuses on films with political themes. They're selecting films now. Any interest in submitting? The festival is invitational only this year but I'd be more than happy to get it to the board for consideration!

Hi Nathan, thanks! We would definately be interested! Where can I find out more about the festival? I really appreciate the interest and look forward to the possibility of taking part.

Hey Joe, thanks man, very cool! We're still working out the distribution at this point. Once we have it in place I'll definately post the info so that those who are interested can have a look!
