Any Further News On 16 GB Shipping Dates?

*Sigh.*

I love panasonic with a passion, but why does it seem like no matter what they do with P2 cards, they can never get it right?

They have trouble following timetables and projected dates for release, they have trouble filling demand, and they even have trouble giving them away for free. lol poor poor panny

They're actually taking your money before they even have them in?!? Wow. "Accepting Orders" is one thing, but to actually charge your card before the damn things have even arrived, much less shipping them, is a bit shady.

I've good experience with them in the past (Kata bag, Harmony remote, batteries), but they've done some less than noble things in the past year. (Of course, they may have always been this way, and it just wasn't brought to light.)

I was under the impression that B&H is not going to charge my credit card until the p2 card is shipped. I may be wrong but have not had the charge come through yet. Have you?
 
ill have to check but i remember it saying that it would be charged as soon as it is ordered. i ordered a bunch of **** at once so i forget
 
eh, it went through on my credit card, and B&H do not have the shipment in yet... every time I call they still don't know. I thought they were supposed to ship late last month....
 
yeah.. it sucks... lol i check here everyday hoping for some good news.... every day im let down. lol i got a pre order and a rebate and im waiting on both... i gotta shoot this video and even though theirs no set dates the sooner i can shoot the sooner i can truly enjoy my camera
 
Just out of interest , as a Uk customer I was able to get mine last week - fully expecting not to be able to get them - are they officially out yet in the states?
 
They are/were out in the states, but they are "all accounted for" for this shipment. They all went out with the hxv500 and probably to the major broadcast companies and they filled up only some of the pre orders. So basically, if you didn't preorder your card really early, you didn't get a card. You have to wait for at least the next shipment.
Also in other words, this shipment was never available to the general public.
skater74life, if you really need one you can order one from the UK, there is a thread on it, but it'll run you about $1200 US.
 
i would but 300 dollars is a some money i dont really have to waste... but the longer i wait the better it sounds... 2 16's is going to be amazing i just wonder how much longer im going to wait. i was also under the impression that the rebates would be filled before the pre orders as those are even older than the preorders.
 
I am getting very upset. I was told Mid May... Retailers then bumped the date back to Early June. With that quickly fleeting, I am begining to realize that Panasonic's estimate is becoming unreliable...again.

remember that old P2 chart which had anticipated release dates of cards? I feel like this is just another horrible miscalculation by Panasonic.

I have had the camera for almost a year now, and all I want is a P2 card.... sigh.
 
A post here indicates that Panasonic is favoring HPX500 purchasers over existing HVX200 orders.

Given there are no 8 Gb cards or very few available, this has to be frustrating.

I wish Hoodman or SC or someone could step in, because with cards, it's kinda hard to shoot HD.

Well I had one on pre-order at B&H but they didnt deliver so I called my dealer in Germany today and asked for it. After 10 minutes they called me back and told me that they have some 16GBs and will send them over over-night.

So I got the B&H order canceled
 
Well thanks for the explanation. I am also on the B&H list, but would jump ship for 1 16gig card in an instant.

Anyone reading this who may be a dealer with a 16 gig.... let me know!

skater74life, i wouldn't count on the bh order, there are a giant company with probably a giant pre order list, who knows when you will get your p2 card. If I were you, i'd call around all the authorized dealers and maybe non authorized dealers and see how far down on the pre order on the pre order list you will be if you preorder with the new company. Most of the companies will not charge you until they call you back to confirm shipping you the card. If you really need the card, you might be better off buying one overseas. All the current cards in the U.S. seem to be "gone", and none are gonna be available until the next shipment comes in. And I have a feeling that's all going to the some of the remaining pre orders, and those will probably not all be filled. You wouldn't want to be waiting around for a year for a P2 card. Ebay is another solution too.
I had a while ago, March 2006, I purchased a Nikon 18-200VR lens from a dealer for $100 more than retail. About a month before that I had the lens on preorder from at least 2-3 places. I saw that the lens was a "hot item" so after a month of waiting i bought from the store that had it in stock for more money.
It was at least 3-4 months later that I got a call from one of the pre order dealer asking if I wanted the lens. Just like a month ago, I got a call from one of the other places, saying they had a lens for me. That's over a year later!
 
I gave up waiting for the 16s and have bought three new 8GBs in the past two weeks, a few of the dealers are getting them here and there. Not a great deal but at least I can shoot and make some money. I may even skip the 16GBs and wait for the 32GBs by January 2008.

Have you not learned anything? First the cards fell behind on the timetable of release, now the 16s are past thier new estimated deadline*... you think the 32's will come out when promised? I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. You'll end up settling for 16's like the 8's now. lol



*(well they technically came out on time, but only to broadcasters and remain relatively unavailable)
