Klein Oak High School Promo Video - Shot with DVX100B

I know, the interlacing is because it was encoded as an FLV so I could put it on the web. FLV's do a pretty good job at the download time. Anyways, thank you for the comments.

What flv encoder are you using? i have never had any of my flv encoded visdeos get interlaced and i am using flash pro 8.

hmm...me too

maybe it wasnt that. i exported it to an avi using premiere pro 2.0 and then encoded the avi with Flash 8 Video Encoder. I don't know, maybe it was with the original avi.

Klein, its a recognized school district by the nation.

Don't ask me why his eyebrows are so big, i just interviewed him. He is one of the smartest teachers at the school.

no offense, but that dude was hardly articulate, if thats one of your smartest, and its a "recognized district" Id really be afraid to see the "not so sharp" teachers...

no thats not the case at all. they are all very smart, he's just the most well spoken. :)

Are you jealous he attends a good school? You're comments have nothing to do with the promo piece.

Anyway, I think you did a good job but would offer a couple of suggestions. Careful with the mix of your audio as I thought the music was a bit loud over some of the interviews. Also, there's a lot of signal noise on sections of interviews, enough that you knew when the track cut in and out even if they weren't talking. Noise reduction software is kind of pricey, but sometimes with EQ alone you can eliminate most of the problem.

BTW, is this the Klein ISD just outside Houston?

Noisy audio can be caused by a variety of things, including cheap mics and/or cables, electrical interference, or even if you are getting air conditioner sound in the recording (I run into this a lot doing interviews at work). Signal noise is usually a mid to high frequency hissing sound. There is a lot of specialized software plugins out there that remove this noise but preserve the sound you want to keep, but again it tends to be pricey. You can try opening your EQ and cranking up the high frequency, then slide the frequency up and down until you find where the noise is on the spectrum, then bring the volume of that frequency down to make it less noticable in the final mix. It just takes some experimenting.

I was curious about Klein ISD because I used to live in Houston and taught music in the Spring Branch area. I also sat on judging panels quite often for region band contests and such so spent a lot of time around your school, also Westfield was a big deal back then as well, don't know if it still is. This was about 15 years ago before moving to Nashville.

Anyway, if you need help with the EQ thing send me a PM. Glad to help out someone from the home town. I travel a lot so sometimes it may be a few days before I get back to you.
