just curious how are you asking for $4700.00 for a used HVX200. eBay there $3350-3700 brand new. Power Sellers auctioning em along with good feedback received

Except those are gray-market cameras without a Pannasonic warranty or promotional rebates. Some of them are also bait and switch operations that will pressure you to spend much more than you intended.

Well I just saw a few on eBay that didn't look like grey markets, one even had a 4 year warranty and a 4gb p2 card for around $3800 but he ended it , I was the high bidder he was suppose to actually sell it to me! When I transfered the money to my paypal he tells me he sold it locally I was steamed.

Hey LoOps - eBay is generally not used for price justification, for just such reasons - very different from looking at prices from reputable dealers!

More than likely he was hoping for way more money and will probably repost it sometime later.

Well there you go.

I believe the only Panasonic authorized eBayer is Studio Exchange. And those HVX200s sell for about $5K.

I spent a month trying to get a deal on eBay for another HVX... got run through so many b/s loops that I eventually just gave up and dropped $5,200 on a new one from Calumet. I'm glad I did too, the peace of mind is worth it.

I do think the whole 'gray market' thing isn't nearly as critical as the fear bug that seems to sting everyone. I have a few 'gray market' cams that are fully insured by my commercial agent, and should anything go wrong with those cameras from commercial defect to human error (dropping it, etc), the insurance covers repair/replacement cost. Commercial insurance is a must if you rent your gear out to offset your costs.

However, reasonable caution should play... don't buy from some random joker on eBay - buy from a reputable retailer like Adorama or B&H... both sell 'gray market' and both offer their own relative warrenty that will at least protect you from a defective product. You're shyte' out of luck with most eBay sellers if something burns out after a few weeks.
