Beatbox video

Here's a 2min promo video for a footbag player who also has some skills on beatboxing :D Had to shoot in few hours, so all natural light and stock lens.

We have also shot a footbag video with the wdr35pro adapter, but it still has some post work waiting to be done. So lots of slow motion coming.

Wow, that guy can rock the mic!

Great camera work and editing. Really clean with nice colors. The dolly work was nice and smooth as well.

nice one! how did you edit this piece, you had one A1 camera right? so did you just reshoot everything like three times so you can edit from different angles? Thanks ;)

Cipa: yes I had only one A1, so we had to shoot the whole thing several times from different angles. For the dolly shots I used my homebuilt skater dolly.

Yeah, that was SICK. For some reason, it totally reminded me of a commercial. Maybe a new "hip" shoe commercial?

I dunno... but I liked it.

Brilliant! Great editing and I loved the simple, natural lighting. You really didn't need anything else--it felt right.

Dude's got skeelz...oh, so does the beatbox fella too. :)

Let me come out of lurking to add my voice to the compliments. Extemely nice, and very well put together all around! Looks like you got some great results with limited resources.

One thing I'm a little curious about is what appears to me to be some vignetting on a close up around the 47 second mark, and maybe another couple places, but nowhere else so apparent that I was convinced I wasn't seeing things. Any idea what caused that? I haven't encountered anything like that on the stock lens -- and it doesn't seem to show up again when you cut back to the same angle. Post effect?

It's pretty obvious that I'm nit-picking, though. I'd count this as amongst the better A1 footage I've seen, not to mention the excellent editing and presentation. Great work!

Thanks for the compliments.

eckatma: the vignetting you see at 47 secs is post effect, the stock lens does NOT vignet.

Really dope looking... I am curious what settings you used as far as shutter speed / preset etc.... I would also love to see pictures of the skatboard dolly set up... : )

Also, what NLE are you using? I freakin love the graffiti... All those close ups with the shallow dof make for incredible imagery....

Good vid...!

Dougster77:

I used a 1/300th shutter for the hand held close ups, other than that shutter was default PAL 1/50th. Unfortunately we didn't have a still camera with us when shooting but here's one pic of the same setup (minus the 35mm adapter):

Holy perkele, that officially roxored my boxorz!
Amazing skills on both sides of the camera.
Looking forward to seeing more footage from you.

Edit: That DIY skater of yours is hot!

Excellent work. Great lighting, color, clarity, camera movement, editing. Looked like a million bucks; so cool to know it was done with an affordable camera. And talent. It's inspiring. Congratulations.

Just like everyone has said, wonderful work. I watched it twice, the second time watching it full screen on my 24" iMac and it looks stunning about a few feet away. Even with all the compression to put it on the web its just awesome. The audio was sick and the quality control of shots was sweet. Thanks for postn', that was an ill video.

I am going out today to shoot a video with the a1. Not lense but I will try some of your techniques! Awesome!
