hello.
i wonder if someone out there could give any answer to what is best between the canon xh a1 and the sony v1u/v1e? i am planning to use fcp with a macbook pro. what about compatibility?
i have searched the web for these questions A LOT, but there seems to be no exact answers and i suppose there arent either?
however, did sony repair their faults by now?
is there any reasons for buying sony over canon?
lot of questions, and it is a difficult choice... so i was hoping someone here could help me to take a final decision on what to buy.... thanx..

The list of why which one is a better choice can go on and will really never end. It all depends on your application of the camcorder, and quite honestly I'm pretty torn between the two. I went to B&H and personally messed with both camcorders and the build and design of the A1 is way nicer in my opinion. Plus that dedicated iris ring is sweet. I'm definitely going with the A1 when I switch. Unless something else comes out.

From ACTUALLY comparing the cameras side by side. The issue I had with the Sony V1 is the large chuncky blocks that seem to plague the image. Especially in the mids and darks. Comparably the A1 image is much cleaner.

The V1 is a pretty good camera overall as far as design and quality go. Couple of nice features to boot. None of anything the V1 has though would allow me to recommend it because of the image problems. The A1 on the other hand...

thanks for input... i have got the same feeling as you guys from what i have read so far... v1u/v1e had some bugs, but are they totally fixed?
how does fcp work with xh a1?
if it wasnt for the bugs in sony i would buy their cam, but now i am leaning towards canon...
well, in the end it is much about taste i guess... after all, this is the canon forum...
