I will post picturse to confirm I got it once it's at my door.

It apparently comes with all of the original accessories. I have never had a bad transaction yet through Ebay. I bought my XL2 through there and I have a good feeling about this one too. I will post results once I get everything and with pictures.

So you haven't actually got it yet........ Hmmmm.

Just joking. Hope everything works out well.

Post the link to the sale. Lets see. That's a gimmick/scam/bait & switch price.

I'd say it looks pretty legit, just be aware that the camera is not "brand new" it is infact used as stated in the ebay auction.

Here's a quote from him through a message I left him.

"it is in brand new condition with zero hours on it"

at best this is a thread devoted to a premature celebratory announcement -- an announcement for the purchase of a slightly used camera that is presumably without a warranty, bought on ebay for about $2900 w/shipping.

This is a camera that others have recently gotten new, with a warranty, for $3050 with free shipping (after a rebate).

yippee.

There's nothing to get excited about, you CAN get brand new cameras off of ebay for several hundreds lower than authorized dealer's price. There are honest dealers on there but the camera is likely to be gray market without a warranty.

Although I have to admit that some of the prices on there are attractive enough so that you do make a real saving by going grey market. I believe someone on this board came away with a brand new HVX for $3800. No warranty of course, but at over a $1000 saving it might be worth it to take the jump. Just gotta take care of that cam like it's your newborn.

I notice that most people on here are too quick to judge that every time there is a good deal, it must be great market merchandise.

I have gotten better deals on Ebay before.

again -- you got nuthin to announce until you have something in hand

and next time please check what others have paid new, before you push that "BUY IT NOW !!!" button

B&H price is now back to $3500 before rebate. We should all keep in mind that the $3025 figure is a special after REBATE, meaning the money isn't in your hand for at least a month after purchase. Most people seems to forget this. If you don't have $250 to spend now then the rebate doesn't make much of a difference in your decision to buy. Morox, congratulation on a good deal.

What difference does it make to see what others have bought their A1 for?

I think youll find the camera turns up as advertised (most likely no warranty) but who cares, mines as solid as the day bought. Just shoot stuff when you get it.

probably because they are scams

indeed !!

A while back I played a perverse experiment with expresscamera -- trying to get them to sell me a XHA1 for the $1350 that they were advertising it for last January

excerpts:

"...the well known scamster store called me about my camera order from them. I'd been expecting their call -- and anticipating a series of excuses for why they could'nt sell it to me at that $1350 price -- that it would be grey market, no US warranty etc etc.

They began by tellling me that that were not able to process AMEX (temporary problem he assured me), but that they would be able to take Discover or Visa.

I asked if the XHA1 was covered by a US warranty -- he assured me that it was.

He tried to get me to buy a Canon battery and charger -- I said I didn't need one, and that they came with the original Canon package (which I already owned)

Not in the package that I was getting -- he said that some Canon packages are sold without the charger and battery.

OK I said -- not a deal killer since I already had the one charger...

He attempted (politely) to get me to buy a UV filter (for $300 !!), and an extended warranty -- both of which I declined.

I then (with some trepidation) proceeded to give him my Discover card number -- and he promised to ship out the XHA1 for $1350..."

Eventually I got an email saying that they were temporarily "out of stock" -- and asked if I wanted to cancel my order (I didn't -- but never heard from them again).

When someone else posted they they were thinking about duplicating my "experiment" with expresscamera, I wrote:

"...I wouldn't recommend anyone else to do what I did -- but if you're crazy enough to do it anyway, it seems that you'll have to be prepared to call their "bluff" and somehow compel them to deliver on their "offer"-- which is a form of a contract.

Its appears they have already lost AMEX -- the loss of Discover and Visa would effectively end at least this current permutation of that company.

Are you ready to accept their demand that you buy a $300 UV filter and a dubious extended warranty in order to test if they would then deliver the camera for an effective cost of maybe $2000 ???

The great probability is that they would charge you for the filter and the extended warranty -- and then string you along and only then later tell you with great regret that they can no longer get you the camera -- they would then either refund or have never charged you for the camera. ( But try and get a refund on the warranty and filter )."
