Duel Adapter 10.4.9 Installer... :D

The documentation in the pkg states that they modify the Applecard files. I'd hate to delete that... maybe I should go to an apple store and copy that file off one of their machines. It's not clear which file or files that is though...

For everybody who is as stupid as I am, mine works great now. Make sure that if you download the pc driver mac-intel like the one from Cynic above, you not only do the pcp2card install which you see first but go to AJ- PCD20 and install the p2 driver there. I was so stupid to not look further. Thanks a lot Cynic, you rock man!

Cheers Niels

try that ^^^

Props to Cynic

Props to Cynic

Thank you very much! Worked like a charm on my 17" MBP.

Installed the adapter, rebooted
Installed the latest intel P2 dirver, rebooted
Set the card to A position and inserted it into the cardbus slot
4G + 8G read fine as well as USB2 and 80211.g cards I had lying around
I was impressed that it recognized those other cards as well.

You rule!
:dankk2:

Just follow the simple instructions and all will be peacfull in the village.
Thanks so much for posting that link. Works perfectly.

Thanks again Cynic821,

I'm on 10.4.9, after downloading the P2 driver and the other driver (AJ-PCD20) everything is working perfectly. I insert the card, P2 icon on the desktop and open in FCP all the clip are there and download pretty fast.

MacBook Pro 2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Ram (34 sec clip loading in about 7-8 sec.)

Merci beaucoup !

BIG FRUSTRATION!!
Installed the driver this morning ... Viola! It Works!!! Downloaded a P2 > LaCie Little Big Disk 360 which rocked at blazing speeds!!!! I came back tonight to try it again and there is no way to make it work!!!

Note- I just shot 3 jobs back to back and had to use a barely working G4 15" w/ a dead battery and not my hot new MBpro 17" w/ the UseLess Duel Adapter.

Duel is a Joke!!!

On another note- I have more love for my HVX today than ever!

You mean I'm not the only one?!?!?! I off loaded 1 card with all working well and now I CANNOT get it to work again. What can we do?

I know we chose this path of self inflicted hell!!! But one still rants about how stupid all the vendors are. First Apple w/ the MacBook pro with this hot new slot which renders our beloved P2 workflow useless. Second Panny with the 60 gig P2Store, and lastly and the champion of useless the Duel Adapter which does nothing out of the $110 box.

To ad insult to injury we will all invest hours of our time to make it work using rubberbands.

I've had my duel adapter for a while now and have never used it because of their utter disregard for OS 10.4.9 users. I read on their site that the driver will be part of OS 10.5 and that makes me think they are working on that more than worrying about 10.4.9 users. For me never again on proprietary high priced widgets. RED has the right idea : Affordable Open and readiliy available options and thats where my money and I are headed for the future.

As to PC Cardbus slots, it's getting harder to find them on both platforms now.

And with Vista's dicey support for drivers, things is stuff

I have spent hours trying to get this thing to work on 10.4.9. Thanks go out to Cynic, he's been awesome about trying to help everyone, but there's a reason that 10.4.9 driver is beta and it just won't work for me. What to do? Well, whenever I'm offloading P2 cards I'm going to have an external drive hooked up (for me a bus powered 2.5" FW800 drive) so why not install 10.4.8 on that external drive and boot from it whenever I'm dumping cards? Great idea, but being a Mac newb I didn't know how to pull this off. I also wanted to have a small install. Don't need iMovie taking up space etc. Here's the solution.

You'll want a bus powered external hdd (or a large flash drive) and your Mac OSX install discs. (I used the ones that came with my MBP).
Follow the instructions on this site http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/td/mac-flash.html with one VERY important exception. When you format your drive, you have to click the "options" button on the "partition" tab and select "GUID" at the top. This isn't mentioned in the article and Intel boxes will NOT boot from the default "Apple partition map".
Hold down the "alt" key while booting, select your drive, install the drivers from Panasonic and then the Duel Systems driver for 10.4.8 and voila, life is good!!!

I know I went through a lot to get this thing working, hopefully this helps somebody out there.

Thanks Cynic! Worked like a charm on my beta unit.. I forgot that I updated to 10.4.9... now that I updated the DualAdapter driver, the unit works flawlessly once more! Just follow the instructions and you will see positive results!
