Core 2 Duo Build Project: 2007

Oh heck no. Core 2 Quad is just a Quad core. LOL

I'm planning to get a Yorkfield in Q3 and possibly transferring the Q6600 (Since it'll only be worth like 200.00) to a miniATX board for a second Windows only machine that can be lugged around on set a bit easier than this one.

Here's to hoping my project goes right!

don't you have an overclocked core 2 duo? and it's skipping with one stream and no CC?
 
Hmmm...

Maybe this is a rookie question - did you go with a single quad chip rather than 2 dual core chips because of the motherboard price differentials, or other reasons?

I think I need to join the other site so I can begin asking these questions over there. :P

Ahhh I get what you're askin:

Nah, there's no way to go with two dual core chips. You'd have to have a dual-socketed motherboard that supports 775 and I just found out that those don't exist.

I have a Quad Core CPU, meaning that it's a single CPU with Four Cores. However, it's not NATIVE... so it's like bubble-gumming two Dual Core chips into one package, or onto one plate.

Later this year, there will be true Quad Core CPUs, instead of having two dual core chips together it's actually a single Quad Core chip.

Yes, but a slight jump and still need to clean up more garbage in the background... I am using Vegas 7... very frustrating

are you sure it's not an issue with your graphics card? it just seems like the cpu should handle a preview, no problem.
 
well the GPU doesn't do anything for the preview, the card only sends out the pixels rendered/resized or simply read by the HDDs... so I don't think so... I have a second card coming to me, a 7600GT which will output to my third monitor (the Gateway 24" 1920 x 1200) so hopefully things will get better once I am previewing 1:1 which will alleviate strain on the CPU by not having to resize the image...

Resizing just might tbe done in the video card... I have to call Sony and ask... anyone know the definite answer?

I will also upgrading the GTS 320MB to a 640MB version or the GTX so we'll find out if the problem persists...
 
LOL!!! He sucked so much power when he OC'ed his Q6600 that he tripped his house and killed the power to eight blocks! So he can't run it till they fix the grid! LOL

He must be busy.

That or he can't figure it out and he's too proud to admit it, lol!

I don't feel like taking it all apart again just to plug in the cooler. That's why I ended up ordering it as well instead of waiting.

But the DS3 and Ram came in!!! w00t.
 
Awww... come ooooon, I broke mine down and re-built it 5 times and you can't do it twice?!? lol...

DS3 in in tha house! ...we are little adolescents again, aren't we? lol...

BTW, the "WD 1TB MyCrap" already crapped on me big-time... it is fine and still works, no data was lost and so on, BUT... the P-O-S had me troubleshooting like crazy for a P2 dump! I can only wish it won't happen on set! especially on our 11 page day!! yes, you heard right, 11 pages!

I put in a notifier for when the Puke box comes back on stock, and I am getting 500GBs for internals and throwing a pair of 320's in it...$60 more... about four times as fast, and COMPLETELY WORTH IT
 
You may have to go outside of NewEgg to find the N2050. There are some on Ebay that are just a few more bucks, I don't know if newEgg is actually gonna get more in. There are also some others on there if you just pop in THECUS.

I think I'm going to go ahead and get my drives and the external along with an eSata 3.0gb/s controller for everyting like now instead of later. Just have it now and all.

And I am so not gonna open and close this thing. I don't wanna run the risk of frying something just because i couldn't wait a day or two. Then have to wait another week for RMA'd parts or something stupid. The next time I open this box it should be to either add 2 gigs of ram (I didn't grab a second pair like I thought I would) or yo take the Q6600 out for a Yorkfield install.
