Core 2 Duo Build Project: 2007

Make SURE you get a G0 stepping Q6600! (it will say SLACR on the label on the box)

I'd go with the G.Skill DDR 800 (black ones) they are a better deal and proven to OC veeeery high... there is a comparable Ballistics DDR-800 which performs almost the same and is an other $10 cheaper too... those two are the best options right now

I'd also save my cash on that Raptor... you'd be better off with a RAID made up of two 7200.10's which would give you about 130MB/s and be just as fast for the same ammount but also have tons more storage space...

For your other drives I'd go with the 500GB versions... they are the best bang for your buck... not that much more... but the smallest I'd go with for GB/$ purposes is the 320GB...

If you want to Overclock then buy a Spirit II for your NB... cooling your NB is VERY important if you are OC'ing... about $25 tops... other options available

All else seems great...

.

Don't worry about loosing the slot... that's what's going on nowadays... most likepy loose a PCI-E or a normal PCI... you'll have all you need left open

580W is plenty but I would only buy a PSU that is on this list here

If you are going to OC then you need to look into a better CPU cooler...

.

BTW I just got a new PSU and I have to sell my Antec True Power Trio 650W so if you are interested let me know... shipping to Denmark is $20 and I'll give it to you for $80 so $100 shipped... it is a very solid PSU and all you'll need if you eventually run two big video cards in SLI even... just a thought, :)
