Brand New HVX for $2k... I must be dreaming

k thanks i looked on resellerratings for TheCameraProfessionals but not for TheCameraPros... that clears that up

nobody is going to offer a legit HVX for under $4500 in the reasonable near future (if EVER). it just aint gonna happen.

I don't understand why we get so many of these. Every week theres a new guy looking at the crooklyn shops and posting here. Oh well, nature of the beast I suppose.

from "kevin09" on reseller ratings: [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]I received it less than 24 hours! What can I say? Everything about The Camera Pros is EXCELLENT. The price, the customer service, the billing department and the delivery!! I’ll buy from them again for sure!!

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The sincerity of that statement completely makes up for the 2.5/10 rating they've earned over the past 6 months. Hats off to the Camera Pros for such high customer satisfaction. Seriously, the last thing they deserve is to be thrown in prison and gangbanged by all the guys who work out.

We all agree these guys are shysters, but a little decorum is always a good thing.

Oh no... Most likely a Brooklyn NY scam. STAY AWAY from fishy prices, it IS too good to be true. Look at reseller ratings or ask people on forums that pertain to the products that are sold. (IE DVXUSER for a camcorder). I tried ONCE to give those people a chance years ago, and I have always regretted it. I was given the wrong product, then had to argue for hours over the phone to recieve the correct one, and pay a "restock" fee... ITS NOT WORTH IT. Try www.evsonline.com They are the best online store I have ever dealt with, and I go to their store in Burbank. Great service, they know what they're talking about, and they are trustworthy.

i say again. ANY price that appears too good to be true - IS SO.

lets dont be gullible. this isnt a forum for dummys

While a 2,000 price is surely "fish and bait" your statement is nothing more than wishful thinking of somebody who has a HVX200 and doesn't want the price to go down and quite frankly it makes me giggle. Kind of like, "I paid 6,000 and nobody will ever be able to get a better deal. If they do, it's not legit". The HVX200, like all other HD 1/3" cameras is dropping and dropping fast! Once Sony starts shipping their 1/2" the HVX200 and Co. will drop even more. When RED hits, even more. Keep dreaming that nobody is going to offer a legit HVX for under $4500 in the reasonable near future (if EVER)(The if ever part of your post is what really cracks me up). Actually you can already buy it new for under that. Kpro is selling a brand new one for $4,000 and they ARE a legit dealer. Just live with it! Cameras drop in price as new technology becomes available and in this time and age, that's every six months.

I can get a brand new HVX200 in Japan, never touched, full warranty for less than the price of a canon a1 - by about $100. The price has dropped a lot since November last year.

Just checked my local AUTHORISED dealers website and I can pick it up for $3,500 USD. Even when I purchased my A1 the prices were the same. Thats down from $5000 USD here in a year.

I should add Japan is a much different beast than the US. Just the other day I learned that a guy a few houses from me has a Canon XL H1, I asked what he shoots and he said words to the effect of nothing really, just a hobby. So to compete in a market where your selling about 70% of your cams to just a hobby people.......

Its "bait and switch" and 4000 is too low to be legit. IF you get it, you'll most likely be getting a grey market, unwarranteed camera. I think 4500 is a possibility (but not necesarily going to happen either) in the future as new models come around but I dont see the RED or the Sony as the ones to drive the price down. Consumer cams do drop fast, but pro cams really dont. They hold their value and arent replaced in a product line every 6 months. Just the nature of the beast.

I have to disagree that RED's price is going to influence the HVX200 in the foreseeable future or ever.

The HVX200's price is remained relatively steady since its introduction.

The DVX100 just dropped in MAP pricing and it's been out for quite a while.

Most of the time, it's hard to even locate a HVX200 for sale; don't get me started on p2 card availability.

And yet here in Japan there remains an abundance. Wonder why this is an issue in the US.

Dear bansheeproductions...

Here's what happens. You order on the web. The next day you get a phone call to verify your order and they try to sell you the battery, charger, all other accessories in the box, filters, and all kinds of other junk that will take the price to an equal or greater amount than an authorized US import camera. If you decline, they tell you it is on 6 month backorder or something like that. In other words. you don't get a camera for that price. Period.
