Updates:

Making final prepartions for our shoot for Fri-Sun, have to still go out and buy some key props and such.

Meeting with actors tomorrow to run through script one more time.

Picked up rifle prop, aka real rifle, on monday. Also went shooting on monday/got a safety tutorial from the gun owner (who just happens to be my pops). Have some funny vids from shooting, but will post them tomorrow cause today is my 3 year anniversary with my gf and she'll be home in approx. 1 hour.

Implying that I'm capable of shooting bad footage? You're treading on dangerous ground, sir...

THATS ABOUT ENOUGH OUTTA YOU!!!

lol, i'm totally pumped about working with this guy.

it's a very simple process involving only 4 parts.

1. A pesticide sprayer (9.99 at home depot)

2. Some 1/2" clear plastic tubing, water hose also works
3. Some Blood (the test blood we used was from Walmart) I can post a good blood recipe if you want as well.

4. Some Tape (preferable not duct, that will rip off your skin)

Step 1: Remove long sprayer attachment from pesticide sprayer.

Step 2: Cap other end of tubing, but put a 1/2" hole on one of the sides. (this is so it's doesn't spray straight out of the end, and make sure it's kind of a crappy hole, that will help it spray all over the place)

Step 3: Pump up sprayer like 100-150 times, if your arm hurts from pumping, you are almost there.

Step 4: fill opposite end of tube with blood ... how much is up to you, the biggest ones we did in that vid are about 1/4 full tube.

Step 5: While still holding other end of tube up, attach that opposite end to the sprayer.

Step 6: Tape it to something and Hit the sprayer release ... SPLATOW, blood all over the place, make sure it's some where you don't mind getting messy, we've recorded distances of 30+ feet with our spray.

We've done this with an air compressor before too, but those are a little more expensive to buy. For our zombie flick we had a compressor running at 110 psi and it covered pretty much every square foot of the basement we were working in with blood. The smaller insecticide sprayers only can get up to 35-45 psi. Note that because you are working with a 10 dollar sprayer and pumping it way beyond it's max, there's potential for disaster, we've had a seal break on one ending up with blood all over white curtains ... eek!

Hope that explains it.

Sweet! I gotta build me one of those!!! Thanks for the photos, too. i guess one could use capped large volume pvc pipe and a bike thred/bike pump. I've seen that used for the old spud gun thing!

lol edgen, they are actually not my secrets, so i felt i had to share with everyone, but if I see a blood splatter like mine in cristo, i want a "Ben Sliker Rocks" credit at the end.

So...we're done. Since this is SpyFest and all, our material and its sensitive nature is designated CLASSIFIED TOP SECRET, but I will tell you all that as the agent operating our visual recording device, I have declared this mission accomplished.

lol, justin.

We are wrapped. Spent a large amount of time tonight backing up our footage on to DVDs so in the tragic event anything happens, not all will be lost. Looks like about 45Gbs of 720p24 footage.

Screens/Storyboard comparisons to come soon.

Yay on the wrap. Sorry i missed those last two shots. You'll be happy to know your key grip made it back alive to Wisconsin w/o any trouble (e.g. "sheered starters").
