I have been waiting almost two months for my P2 Card and I keep getting run around. And Now its worth half what it was when I bought it with the camera so the 1200 dollar deal is half as cool as it was and now I still Don't have my P2.
This comes after having dealt with a fiasco with an online company claiming to sell me a camera that was US with US warranty only to find it was a Jap model with out US warranty. So I spent 2 months on top of that to resolve it and get a "US Camera"
I am happy that the new P2's are coming out but I had to go by a firestore so I could actually use the HD part of the camera. As cheap as memory is there is no reason for this memory to be this expensive. I don't care if there is a micro raid controller inside the P2 it should not cost this much and we should already be at higher capacities than this.

wow chris, if the big guys on this site read your post, i would feel pitty for you. if you received a jap version of the hvx, then i would question who you bought it from instantly. did you pay less than 5000 for it, if so then you probably were dealing with non/shady dealers. also i got my cam 2/23 and got my card last week, about two months. yours is probably on the way.
why dont you try looking at this as a positive aspect. the price of 8gb cards are down. if you prefer and intend to use the p2 cards over the fs-100, sell the fs-100 (you should be able to get at least 1750 on ebay) and buy a second 8gb card and look, you have easily made 1000 (or got back 1000 if you want to view it that way).
complaining about it here is not going to speed up the process, and usually complaining just makes it worse. it says blatently on the rebate site, 9-12 weeks, 2 1/2 to 3 months, so by this comparison, your right on time. also take into consideration the person and situation who is honoring the rebate, it is one women, taking on thousands of these deals. be happy you got a free card anyway, I dont see other companies giving out free stuff often.
on top of it all, you should not bash what you dont know. the cards use a specific chip within them, a non-zero error chip, meaning premium cost. would you want to be shooting a 3o hour shoot to find you had time code breaks and errors all around becuase panasonic used substandard product? also, this is an industry specific item, meaning the demand is low so price is high. sd cards are cheap cause everyone i nthe world uses them for everything now a days. i got a 1gb sd for 10 bones, but i would never in my life use something like that in a hvx to record such critical footage on.
