I'm planning to buy a steadicam flyer for my HVX. I allready have a marshall vr70p HDA.
Anyone has the same set and does the monitor give a good outdoor view in your experience?
Not sure which monitor you are refering to as for viewability? The Flyer's monitor has great viewability, and it works great even outside in the sun. I'm prety sure it's brighter than the Marshall.
Not sure where you are buying your Flyer from, but check with Tiffen/Steadicam directly about your connection options.
The Stock Flyer monitor has a special connector, so you might need a custom cable. Call Tiffen and they will get you all set up.
thaks Mikko for your info, but does that monitor play HD wich comes with the flyer. I was planning to buy it from B&H $7100.
BTW i send you an email yesterday.
The Flyer is available in 3 versions, each with a slightly different monitoring option:
Flyer (Basic)
12 volt system
SD Monitor (Composite)
Wired for Composite video only, with special monitor connector.
Flyer-24
12/24 volt switchable system
SD/HD Monitor (Composite, SD/HD Component, and SD/HD-SDI) - This is actually a Marshall monitor I belive, though Tiffen may add some anti-glare to it, I'm not sure.
Wired for Composite and SDI. External cable necesarry for Component
Flyer-24SE
12/24 volt switchable system
SD Monitor (Composite) with built in Frame-line Generator
Wired for Composite and SDI
Only the Flyer-24 comes with a HD monitor. The Basic and SE versions don't have HD monitors.
I'm not sure that a HD is really that necesarry for Steadicam. You really are only normally judging framing, and SD is normally just fine for that.
Call Tiffen and ask them directly what they recomend as you allready have a monitor.
Thanks Mikko,
Yes it is only for framing but I now discovered that the HVX also outputs analog sd when youre in HD. So actually I discover now that I bought the Marshall for nothing because I only use the monitor for framing. So I can Buy a cheap small lightweight monitor
