Envision & RebeccaD Present "Berlin"

Hey, Steve must be a bit of a music guy as well to at least know the term 'triplets' ... :) As far as whether it disturbs or not, I think a lot of it will be how it's all tied together with the final vocals.

Leave it to Steve to snoop around & find the extra files, lol. Hmm, as we get closer & I start putting up more sensitive material, I'll have to throw index files into each of those diretories ... at least I had the foresight NOT to put the script up in that main directory, lol.

Got your PM, Steve. :) Very cool that you studied Jazz for 4 years ... would love to hear your work on the drums some day, or better yet see you in action via video clip!

Cool - gotta hear some of that as well

Critical Crew Update

Critical Crew Update

We've had some adjustments behind the scenes the past few days, as I've scrambled to find a new DP. Dan Ayers contacted me several days ago letting me know that their LA shoot was extended a week, so he would be unavailable our first weekend of shooting. Since we couldn't push the production out a week, I've been on a holding pattern the past few days ...

Finally today I was able to meet with Shawn Sundby, who will be our new DP for BERLIN. Shawn is a VERY meticulous person, and puts a lot of thought into his craft. While he is more inclined towards the larger cameras, he's also quite familiar with the HVX and has used it often. He's going to bring some great insight to the project, both visually & technically. Something that may have shocked some people, actually impressed me when I asked if he was nervous about doing this production with us, and he stated yes....

For the DP, all they really have when they walk away from the film is how GOOD it looked. So he's taking a leap of faith (as he doesn't know me from Adam, but knows some of the other crew members) the team we have together will help enable him to pull out the visual images that he wants to see in the end result. He also wanted to be in on the decision making of the color correction process, which I applaude his ownership of the image & am eager to have him involved in it. :)

Welcome aboard, Shawn!

I've also been in discussions with a professional Crafty today, who has an apprentice she thinks would be great for our film ... hopefully will have that officially wrapped up tomorrow.

Still working on 1st AD and MUA/Hair/FX.

1 Shawn is trouble (come on Norm, you should have learned that on Where Silence Falls!) and two Shawn's are trouble squared, etc.

We'll need some naming scheme.

Lol, congrats on the DP find.

I know, he ALMOST didn't get the job, just 'cuz of that cursed name!

Thanks, Shawn ... stll making more calls, but just left a message for a MUA that specializes in vintage glamour! Oooooh, how I'd love to have her on this set!

Thanks, Jack.

Been a productive day, even for my day job today! :)

On the film front, we've obtained our DP, and now have calls out with interest for all the remaining positions: 1st AD, Craft Services/Catering, Period Hair and FX Specialist, as well as Vintage Glamour Specialist!

Very productive day, indeed. I hope to have confirmations from everyone tomorrow as to whether they can commit or not & will update accordingly.

Your lead for WestSideSwing (Larry) is enthusiastic & last I spoke to him (end of last week) he said he'd have no problem pulling together 12-16+ folks for Sunday the 22nd (the say we'll have to use the extras, due to the re-enactment group having an event the 2nd weekend of production). I've been playing hit & miss with both Mike (your lead for the re-enactment group), as well as Eric also with the same group. Mike just texted me today & gave me a guy's number by the name of Jay, I believe. Anyway, left a VM for him as well.

Lots of phone calls ... lots of calls ...

Great job, Norm on all your finds! I cannot wait to meet some of these folks! I didn't know you were going to put the music with my vocals up before the finished product....Agh! I better step it up a notch!

Oops! Well, that's what you get for not getting on here in nearly a week, lol.

Actually, if you'd prefer (we can discuss after we get the mix back from Herman), perhaps we can hold it off ... but for now, I like the extra pressure it's putting on you for our recording session tonight.

Norm!

Man, things are looking REALLY good for you. Sorry to hear that you lost your DP to filming here in LA, but everything happens for a reason. :)

You're turning into a serious filmmaker here... almost time for you to move down here to Lala land... :D

I know Norm appreciates the kudos, Tommy. I agree, he is doing great at pulling so many of the pieces together. Thanks for checkin' in with us!

Norm, you should watch Christina Aguilera's video "Aint No Other Man", It had one of the coolest neo-retro looks I've seen. It's available on iTunes for $1.99.

Norm, you still going to be able to pull it off, thought you said you were leaving the country for a bit?

Thanks Tommy & Rebecca for the kudos ... it's all coming together. Even if things do or can get stressful at times, I need to remind myself that everything always seems to work out at the right moments. :)

Planning a tech scout of our main location, Hubers, this Saturday morning.

Shawn, I'll check out that video, thanks!

Charli, I won't be out of the country ... just on the other side of the country. I leave this coming Monday morning for Miami, and won't return until Friday. Spend a day with the kids, work the day job, and cram in some film stuff, then my wife & I head out the next morning to Las Vegas for 4 days to hang out with some long time friends. So two trips, business & pleasure.

While I'm in Miami, I'll likely be working the phone as much or more making sure as much is lined up & ready to go as possible.

EDIT: Holy smokes, Shawn, you're not kidding! That video looked GREAT! I'm putting it up on my server so that Shawn can get a look at it as well.
