You can put no more stake in their claim of a $2,000 HVX than you can in an e-mail that promises you can grow your penis 3" longer by taking some herb or something; the claims are equally legit.
:Drogar-BlackEye(DBG Damn. My order for those herbs has already been charged.:laugh:

Wait. what kind of "package" are we talking about in this thread? Maybe Spec should throw in one of these herbal remedies too, aye?

Was it necessary for me to include "Business Organization" into the request form? I didn't think it would be a big deal if I didn't include my company in the request form, since I bought it with money out of my own pocket. I left it blank. Is this gonna jeopardize my free gift? Should I re-apply?

Also,..it never said anything about including an invoice...should I send it in with a little letter that has my information? I dont mind sending in a copy of the invoice and reciept. Im just worried that they are still gonna reject my application for not including which business i work for.

Wanted to hop on here for a couple reasons:

First and foremost, I bought my HVX from Spec Comm a few weeks ago and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. After reading all the great reviews on here, combined with a great deal of independent research, they were the obvious choice as far as purchasing goes, and I strongly recommend them to anyone else. As someone who was on the fence between an HVX and a Canon H1 for many months, their current offer, and the subsequent excellent service, had a lot to do with my decision to finally pull the trigger. Since that moment, it's been all smiles. Not a single regret.

Secondly, the other deciding factor in the HVX vs. H1 debate was this forum, so before I begin to ask a ton of noob questions (in this post, and surely more to follow), I wanna thank you guys for being here and being so supportive. This place truly echoes the collaborative nature of filmmaking as an art form, and it is unrivaled and greatly appreciated.

Moving on, I sent in my P2 rebate (accompanied by my invoice) a few weeks ago (5 to be exact) and checked on the status yesterday. It said "fulfillment in process". I'm certainly not worried, as 5 weeks is nothing compared to some of the waits i've seen in other posts, but I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on what "fulfillment in process" means concerning how much longer my wait is. Also, and I think I already know the answer to this, but I was wondering if it was possible to purchase a P2 card elsewhere, and then use the rebate to reimburse the cost of the card. Or does Panasonic actually send me a P2 card rather than a coupon/credit to purchase one?

Thanks for your time and help,

Todd

Anyone have any opinions as to whether the "net" price of the camera will really go up? Right now, subtract the value of the P2 card and the HVX is selling for about $4000. Anyone really think the camera will be back retailing for over 5K once the dust settles? I can't remember any product ever being sold for over 6 months at a reduced price and then the price raised to the regular price.

I predict, by the end of April, a replacement offer that equals or betters the P2 card offer. Panasonic isn't stupid. However, I can certainly understand you
fence sitters buying before the offer is over. If I didn't already own the camera, I might be one of them.

Todd - RE: 5 weeks and waiting for the P2 card - no there is only one way to get it, the slow way - but the good news is, based on the experiences of most members here, you will have the card within about 2 weeks.

As a card carrying 'fence sitter' I can say I'll continue waiting..

My main concern is P2 prices/availability/longevity. I've seen the Pani presentation where 32 GB cards where talked about. I really-really hope that 32 GB P2 (for $1K) becomes reality in 07.................. but until that becomes reality I'm going to continue my fence sitting. :Drogar-BlackEye(DBG. I also expect the camera + max-card price to stay pretty much in the low $5K price range. IMHO, Pani should really strive to maintain this price point.

While I'm fence sitting I'm going to use the HV20. Not the same capabilities of the HVX (by far) but good enough (for what I need) while fence sitting.

Prices are supposed to plunge this year. Availability is currently a problem, because they're selling thousands and thousands of units to broadcasters -- but, conversely, that largely takes care of the "longevity" question. They're fully committed to support Fox and Raycom and Media General and NDTV and Australia's ABC and all the rest of their massive customers for years to come.

Still hoping for some help...

As a former "fence sitter" myself, I think the best advice to consider, and it's been said time and time again, is to purchase it when you need it, and disregard any speculation and/or promotions. I spent months and months researching this camera, and there were numerous times that I even plugged "Buy the HVX" into my day-planner, but I didn't actually pull the trigger until my screenplay sold. The moment I finally had a real "need" for it (my film), rather than a practical use (my production company), the decision pretty much made itself. "Buy the camera when you need it" should be the official slogan of digital filmmaking. That and "We're gonna need a bigger boat".

Hello,

They keep track of authorized serial numbers, once you've submitted an online registration you will not be able to 're-apply' for that serial number. You need to mail your invoice with the printed reference page from when you registered.

For questions or concerns regarding the registration and rebate, Panasonic offers a help line and they are very supportive. Please give them a call at 866-339-4296.

HVX200 is an awesome tool! The free 8G card and Barry's book in the Pana promotion, also a really great deal. However, if you need (or want) to shoot high def soon and you are going to rely on the the free 8G card to do it, be somewhat cautious.

I ordered the camera from B&H in mid-November 2006, received the camera in 3 days (typical great B&H service). The free 8G card and Barry's book came about 11 weeks later. A LONG wait. Can't complain, it was free. And I'm probably one of the unlucky ones who got strung out, others got their cards much quicker. Just keep in mind, it CAN take a long time.

I think Panasonic uses an independent "rebate service" as do most companies, and apparently can't control the response time. Still, I'm rockin' now and happy as a clam with my HVX200 and the camera (and the free stuff!!).

JUST GOT MY CARD !!!!! UGH ....13 weeks + ++ Even with personal calls and emails, conversations with Jan Crittenden (The poor thing) and Veronica Burg, IT was still a very frustrating process to actually get the card. They regrt the promotion and I can almost guarantee you it will not happen again as it raised red flags all over for Panasonic as far as bookkeeping.

Just a word to those on the fence ...Even if you have to wait 13 weeks like myself and others: it is still a VERY WISE DECISION.

Luckily I had 2 8gig cards already and was able to get by with them by dumping to rugged drives in the field on long HD days.

Thanks for the very important book Mr. Green.

I have been telling everyone who orders to not rely on the free card if they have a shoot scheduled. Buy or rent whatever cards you need and if the free one comes you have an extra.
