Envision & RebeccaD Present "Berlin"

I'm definitely excited about the film.

German vintage lingerie? You want me to ask my grand-ma if she want's to give you some of hers?

I've had the script read by some people who's opinions I would respect, with litterally the same results ... split right down the middle, which really kind of surprised me. I was hoping for a majority vote, which just didn't happen. The best advice I rec'd from someone was for Rebecca and I to make a film that we were most happy with, disregarding what others thought.

While I always want to be making a film that the masses will love (while still being true to my own vision), in this case especially I'll have to agree ... and I think Rebecca will also.

We'll be getting together tomorrow to sift through notes & feedback, but ultimately we'll be combining pieces that we like from both drafts and settling on a story/script that personally moves us the most.

A SINCERE thank you to everyone who's been following this so far, is in support of the project, and who has offered input/suggestions so far. :love4:

Had our pow-wow, which my lovely wife (Shahna) was able to sit in on as well. Long story short, while this script has began to feel like an albatross hanging around my neck, we're taking some solid advice to just make the story that we want to make, and not care what others have to say in advance (to a degree, anyway).

That said, it was interesting how we started out with this, because both Rebecca and I were both so inspired by THE ARTIST in the DramaFest that we too wanted to create a love story with a warm & fuzzy ending. However, as we've become so incredibly torn with two different endings for this 'love story', we've re-evaluated what we really want to do & accomplish with this.

As such, we're taking this in a totally different direction .. a VERY dark, dark direction ...

Norm! You FOOL!

Never, ever trust yourself or your instincts. Always accept everything that strangers suggest and keep changing your story to make sure you are complying with the views of others.

In that way, even if you do manage to get your project off the ground and actually make something, it'll probably be a big blob of poo and there'll thus be a greater chance for the rest of us to place a little better this time out.

Trust me on this. Thanks.

(and - oh yeah - the moratorium has now expired. Weenie)

hehe. :) but honestly one has to be careful not to swing too much in the other direction as well. at least personally I would have a hard time finding the point of making a film which only me myself and i think is worth watching. I actually think that being too set in ones ways is the very downfall of most independent filmmakers. we can very easily tend to get so wrapped up in our own visions that we loose sight of reality until after were faced with the tangled web of "..im not really sure where i was going with this.." we are left with when the film is complete and has recieved numerous accolades from ..well if were lucky ..our mothers or cat. personally i can say that one of the most valuable lessons ive learned ..and am still learning throughout my feable days of filmmaking, is that while the voices of others are certainly not right All the time, they do happen to be right ALOT of the time (espescially if in unison). ..not to say you should let them stumble you on this one Norm. if you've crunched the numbers and they add up, then I say stick to your wits. if we never dared to run against the grain, man wouldnt be flying and the world wold still be flat.. ect. ect. Im just saying that the step of rewinding and reviewing before pusing the button is an important one. .. cause if were right.. we blow the doors off the film. but being wrong means it blows up in our faces. .which is bad for our faces. so just making a point that it never hurts to take a deep breath and re-evaluate the situation. which i would conclude youve done a pretty good job of here from the sound of it. :)

Believe me, Neil we have thoroughly evaluated where we are going with this film. I realize that it is difficult to please everyone, but I feel that we have a really solid story that I hope will appeal.

Charli, why do you want me to die so badly? Lol.

I think we've got a good balance here. Honestly, I know Rebecca and I think a lot a like, and most everyone seemed really pleased with what we did for WHERE SILENCE FALLS ... which we didn't take suggestions on in advance, etc.

Perhaps our problem with this one was we let folks' opinions rattle our cage enough to where we doubted ourselves, when in reality if we had just moved forward with the 2nd draft, I believe we still would have had a film we would have been immensly proud of, and would have performed well to boot.

That said, when we really boiled it down today, for some reason we decided to take this in a completely new & different direction ... In the long run, it comes down to we believe this will leave a much longer lasting impression on the viewer when they're done.

:2vrolijk_08:  Mustard gas for all! :2vrolijk_08:

Norm, shhh! We don't want anyone copying our mustard gas disaster scene! Dang!

Too late...Sleeper will now have a "completely original" mustard gas disaster scene....completely not stolen from Berlin........:engel017: jk

Yes, but ours will involve drinking a liquid form concentrate through vintage Mickey Mouse curvey straws. No one will EVER think of that .... doh!! :Drogar-Thinking(DBG

Updated the first page/post with revised logline. Also updated all the cast/crew with links to their DVXuser profiles and/or IMDB credit(s).

Really excited about your film and lookng forward to what this dyno-team beings next!!!

Lol. New direction, not new location. :) We still have 100+ Stormtroopers that will come smashing through that beautiful stained glass ceiling ... AFTER we dispense with the mustard gas finale.
