I'll steal it from you. Just give me your address. Tell me when to come. Make sure you're out, leave the door open and a note telling me where I can find the cam.

Ok, then do what I did with my TV broke. Put it out on your porch, leave for 10 minutes, and return to find it gone. It's not hard to get a nice (looking) camera stolen. Just leave it on a tripod for five minutes while shooting in a city and it'll be gone.

Ok really, how intense is that investigation? I don't think it would be too hard to hide the camera and say I was by myself, left it on a bench at the park for a minute and it was gone... really, what is this investigation going to uncover? What do they check?

I'm sorry about the accident, but these suggestions are way out of line IMHO.
 
Umm, if you read my original post - I was joking about filing theft. I never suggested he do that. The question I asked is still legitimate: what do they do when you file theft? How intense is the investigation?

That is an objective question and has nothing to do with the morality of filing theft.
 
Profit off your loss, you should get a new camera and then use the broken one as a stunt camera. Shoot some stock footage re-enacting your accident....
Insurance companies and maybe even Panasonic would buy that footage!!
 
My insurance asks me to mail a certified copy of the police report, they pay up, that's it. Police report is the deal. Don't let the local cops know, they bust insurance fraud more often than an insurance company.

I mean, I'm sure they'd probably give me hell if anything DID happen to it but they're supposed to cover it as I think most insurance companies would.

I also have USAA and was told the same thing, pretty much no matter what i do to cause it to break its covered...

Just returned from Sedona with my new HVX from EAR in Phoenix. They were very helpful and gave me a great price.
Thanks for your support through this. I don't care to discuss the insurance issue as I am having some difficulty with that. Suffice to say that things always seem to be covered until they actually happen.
I'm on my way to Panasonic as we speak. At least I'll get a P2 card out of the deal and that's always helpful.
My project is moving along and I am receiving some marketing help from some "New Agers". The DVD will have 3 programs. (Oceans, Streams and Waterfalls) Each prgram will have a choice of audio. Dialog (progressive relaxation/guided imagery)Music and FX. Music and FX only or FX only. It will serve two puproses Hynosis/relation or background use. Although I am originating this as DVD only I hope to re-package as HD as soon as the format war is over and people start buying players en masse.

Any suugestions you all have here concerning this project would be HIGHLY appreciated.
