Will there be a new HVX200 for Nab 2007?

I bought an HVX200 today and I wanted to be sure that I didn't make a BIG mistake as the NAB 2007 is only in one month!!
Does anybody know if Panasonic will come out with an upgraded version like a hvx200b for NAB 2007? Maybe I can delay my order for one month!

No, new cameras aren't expected until the day after you receive your HVX.

Seriously, it's been hashed to death. There are new cameras coming, but they are all 2/3" models, and no updates of the HVX200 are in the works as far as anyone knows.

If you don't purchase by the end of March, you aren't eligible for the free 8GB P2 card -- get the camera now.

You only made a big mistake if you plan on putting the camera in a closet and not using it. Get it today, put it to work tomorrow and it will have paid for itself by the time NAB comes around. Then it wont matter what comes out.

I'd wait unless you have an upcoming paid gig. Even then, I might rent unless the job was long enough to pay off a large percentage of the camera. Even if it is only a "B" model upgrade with things like improved LCD, Firewire, SDI, etc. you will be doing the serious head slap thing if it comes to fruition.

Me, I'd wait.

Good luck and have fun.

Yeah but one month is very short... I rented this cam twice and loved it so much I juste went a ordered one today! But I realy hope Pana will not come out with a new HVX200 only at IBC 2007 or NAB 2008 not NAB 2007...

Jan from Panasonic has said on numorous occasions there will be no new HVX this year.
If anything at all there may be some firmware updates to the existing cameras.

If you wait until you get a paying gig, then you won't have any time to familiarize yourself with the equipment and workflow, and that could make that your last paying gig (at least from that client).

Think of the camera as an investment. Get it now, learn to use it, and you'll be in a good position to capitalize on that investment in a month or whenever that gig comes around.

I used the HVX for two music video clips and I loved it! And as I am having more and more bands wanting me to use this cam I decided to buy one.
I'll put the two clips soon online!

Dudes, what more could you possibly want from an HVX. its nearly perfect.

All it lacks functionally, is the ability to trim the clips on the P2 cards.
Hardware changes like higher res chips etc....wouldnt come from a lettered upgrade.

And you can bet by next week someone will again ask... "how long until Panasonic comes out with the HVX-B". :D
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Dang... I'd really hoped for a new HVX this NAB.... I currently own one... Needs another, and hopefully a HVX200A would have an image flip function, so I could use it with my Brevis :) grr

a new HVX200 is actually coming...

It will be named the following: HVX200A. It has the following features:

1) Better support for low-light shooting
2) Considerable decrease of noise during low-light
3) New and larger chip that will add more detail
4) 2 16G P2 will be included with every Camera for free
5) HVX200 will control and write to external harddrive directly.
6) and whole lot more features such as coffee holder, mp3 player, and an alarm clock to do the job.

Say it comes with a toaster too. Pleeease! :) Actually coffee holders could be a huge (tongue-in-cheek) success. I would've bought one :)

It may come with a cameraman to :)
Normaly my HVX arrives on Friday!! Three more day grrrrrr!!
