A day in the park Brevis35 tests

I love your shots and the DOF control is great, but I am a little concerned about the grain in the image (perhaps from a ground glass?)

I have not heard of a Brevis, and I promise to look into it, but I don't always want that much "grain" in my shots - how do things look on a bright sunny day?

:dankk2:

Here is the link to them:

The Brevis has a variable vibrating rate and you can change out the GG so if grain is something you can't get past there are tweaks. You can also use it as a static adapter and get even sharper images and I don't really see the grain unless it's on s still shot from a clip.
These shots are straight out of the box, I didn't mess with anything on the Brevis except for the first time 2 minute alignment. Most of these tests I do are to show the Brevis in action in an uncontrolled environment with no tweaking, run & gun style. So like if you wanted to just walk around with your camera for a documentary you can see what it can do with little setup or worrying.
I also don't think about what the best iris setting is for the best focus for the lense I'm using, i just turn on the camera and shoot. If someone wants to be anal about the settings then you can see that the image quality would be excellent if tweaked the right way.
You should definitely check the Brevis out if you are in the market.

Aram, parev.
I understand that you're using DVX100 (is it 100a or 100b ??) and Brevis.
But my main question is what kinds of lenses do you use?
and do you use matte box?

cheers

Its the DVX100a. For these particular shots and the HVX shots posted above I used a cheap sears 70-200mm lense with a Canon mount. No matt box.

Definitely look into the Brevis. Remember this lens was really crappy but I think the texture it gives is nice. The lens even holds up on the HVX translating that same feel. Check it out here:http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=90454

Same setup except HVX in place of the DVX.

Does this Brevis adapter flips the image, or it records upside down? I'm shooting a TV series in about two weeks, and we don't have the budgte to rent the Movietube for 6 months, so I was wondering of buying a cheaper 35mm adapter, but I need one that will flip the image. Can the Brevis do it? or doesn anyone knows of a nother 355mm adapter that does it?

thanks

The Brevis does not yet flip the image, but Cinevate is working on a version that does -- and the flipping piece will be able to be added to existing units. Don't know the timetable, though.
