HVX and FCP - External monitor problem. HELP!!

I'm trying to use an external broadcast monitor with FCP and the HVX and I can't get it to work! I managed to get my timeline to send out PAL DV images to the HVX over firewire, and this works fine.

The problem is, I'm cutting a project in 720 25P, and no matter what preset I use, the HVX only shows still images on its display. The still images refresh each time I stop the playback - but never playback with any motion.

I have checked all the usual things - selected 'view-video playback -all frames' etc. And I've tried numerous different settings in the A/V Settings menu.

Any ideas? Has anyone actually succeeded in doing this? In 720 25P mode?
 
you can't use the hvx as a HD passthrough. you need a decklink card or Matrox axio to watch DVCPRO HD on an external monitor, or use one of your MAC LCD as a display option to view full rez video.
 
This can't be true - the HVX has two modes for firewire playback. You can do it in tape mode for DV stuff - like any DV camera. But you can also put the HVX into playback mode in P2 and then press the thumbnail button to lose the thumbnail view - which is essentially the same as tape mode, but for HD.

Well unfortunately it is true! If you manage to find a work around then let us know, but according to the manual P87:-
"1394 input images cannot be output from the component out terminal"
 
That is interesting, and a bit of a shame, but I'm not trying to output over component - I'm happy to use s-video as I'm outputting to an SD monitor.

My main point is, how do I get video output for moving images over to the HVX from FCP in the first place - assuming I'm working from a 720 25P timeline?
