Suitable laptop for recording to FCP

I would like a hopefully low priced PC laptop capable of uploading P2 cards to and
recording directly to FCP via firewire if needed. I see lots of $600 dual core laptops (mainly Toshibas at office Depot on sale) . It does not have to be particularly small. Anyone using one in this price range that fits the bill?

Sorry, meant record direct to DV rack or similar software, then take the files to Mac later. On my Mac, FCP isn't very stable for direct record anyway.

Anyone using a PC laptop they can recommend? Also, is DV rack my only option to record directly to HD, other than Edius broadcast? For some reason, I thought DV rack was around $200, obviously was mistaken.

Recording live to MB Pro using FCP

Hi Ben,

Can you give me the info on how to use FCP to record a live stream from the HVX200? I've looked around and can't find the info I need.

Thanks,
Rob

I record live to a G4 Powerbook quite often with no problems. You have to set it up properly.
