Firestore media got unaccessible for Avid and FCP

Hi there,

I am using a HVX200 with a FS 100 and have been importing into Avid and FCP without a problem, now I have recorded more Media AFTER using the "ORGANIZE P2" option and these shots seem to have become unaccessable for Avid and FCP.
When I choose the option "ORGAIZE P2" again, the files are still not coming up for P2 Import in FCP, the Icons shown are only the ones of the previous shots.
In Avid the files show as DV25-Files, although I have recorded them in DV50 and they look chopped up and green.

The funny thing is - the firestore still plays them back on the HVX200 with no problem

Is there a way to reorgaize the data manually on the firestore so that the footage is regarded as p2 footage again for me to use the FCP import option?

Also, are there other conversion tools for raw mxf files apart from the quite costly Raylight software? I wouldn't like to buy it just to get hold of footage that is still visible on may firestore...
 
Once you run Organize P2, you have to off-load the footage and format the FS-100 before you start to shoot again, period. Organize P2 is only done as the last step BEFORE you format the drive.

You can try to delete the CONTENTS folder and the LASTCLIP.TXT on the FS and then run P2 again, but I'd back up the whole FS-100 drive before hand to be safe. Not sure it'll work.

Before you run Organzie P2, the footage is in a Focus propriatary format. So not much to do to salvage it, besides the above suggestion.

You can always playback from the FS-100 and capture live in FCP. Works pretty well for folks who mistakenly capture in the RAW DV format.
 
thanks, BenB - but still I have a problem setting the FS-100 up as playback device so that it is recognized in FCP. I have used the firewire port "DV I/O" and hit play on the firestore - but neither FCP nor IMovie are showing the incoming signal - though a camera is recognized... I am pretty much a newbe on FCP so I don't know the secret switches - so far I coudn't figure out how to set up the firestore as a DV device...

(I couldn't find anything on the subject in the forum - maybe I am just to dumb put in the right search words)
 
If you set FCP's Capture setting properly it should work. I've done it before. I'll have to test it out again this week and pay attention to my settings.

Hi Ben,

Did you find the solution for capturing directly from fs100 to fcp (I'm on 5.1.4).
-I just have the most annoying p2 and fs100 problems, some workarounds work, but not on all media...
