As always NAB is THE place to be in April for industry news and technology.
NAB fills vegas to the brim with 100,000 industry profesionals and over 1000 companies exhibit at the Tradeshow.
Last year we heard the first real news of RED, the year before that the HVX was announced. Who knows what this year will bring?
As Vegas fills, hotels sell out, so the sooner you book the better. Same goes for other things like flights too.


I'll update this post with events news and other pre-show information.
News from NAB will of course be posted elsewhere when the time comes.

I'll definitely be showing up, not only have I been going to school here since 2004 but I live here now, so I've got no reason not to go! :thumbsup:
 
I hate the dates they set..It's ALWAYS a week after my spring break...damn it!!

..we need to change the dates to the first week of april..
 
There's so many, you can hardly go wrong with any of them. Of course, the Las Vegas Hilton is right next door to the convention center but they may be packed by now, I don' t know. The most convenient would be the hotels with the monorail route to them.

The monorail circuit goes from the MGM Grand, Bally's, Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's, Imperial Palace, Las Vegas Hilton, and I think the last is the Sahara. It's been a while since I've been on the monorail but I'm very sure that that's all of them. Of course, the stop right before the Hilton is the convention center. Ceasar's Palace is also listed on the monorail route but that's only because it's across the street from the Imperial Palace, the Flamingo, and Bally's. In those terms, then anyplace on the strip is fine! :)

Off the strip, I can't tell you very much because I'm not too familiar. Yet the Palms and Rio usually have NAB-related events at them, so those are always good choices. Next to that is The Orleans which is a whole lot of fun to be at, mostly because they've got practically anything you would want to do there (movie theatre, bowling alley, arcade, casino, buffet, ect.).

If you want to go a distance from the strip, the Sunset Station in Henderson (right down the road from where I live) seems to be quite a nice calm place, only problem is that it would be, in my experience, a 40-45 minute drive from there to the convention center, less if you go directly to MGM, park or get valet, and take the monorail (about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic). It's also a fun spot like the Orleans.

Any one hear of a location for a DVX-HVXuser gathering yet? I remember Jarred hosted one last year.
 
I am officially attending as well - staying at the mirage - cause been there before and love it - its only a short cab to the conference.

Lets get a gathering together one of the days - I am there sat - fri
