hd capture to fcp

can anyone point me to tutorials for shooting hd with the hvx200 direct to disk with fcp?

Connect HVX to Mac via Firewire.

Launch FCP. Select scratch disk. Do Easy Set Up for the format you are shooting. Change the deck control to non-controllable device. Press capture now. Capture. Press escape to end capture now. That's all there is to it.

I tried that. I just get this Error about device not being detected. =(

just did this for an opera last weekend. It took me 20 minutes to figure out my problem, but the capture settings in the FCP log and capture screen have to have device control set as uncontrollable device. If that is not done, then FCP is trying to control the tape mechanism on your camera. this is fine when you capture from the camera, but when the camera is using the deck and something else trys to control it, it generates an error. It sounds to me that this is what your problem is.

What format is the HVX set to, what format is your Capture in FCP set to, what is the Firewire setting in FCP's capture set to?

Too bad you can't capture to a different format. I should invest in a Kona card.
